Both were predominantly made up of lower class and petty bourgeois protestants. Both were explicitly anticommunist, antisemitic, anti-catholic. I’m not sure what the disconnect is here. The second Klan wasn’t revolutionary like the SA because unlike the Germans, the Americans hadn’t suffered a national catastrophe and had an illegitimate government forced upon them; but in terms of creed and practice they had more in common than not.
