Kids these days will never know the joy/annoyance of simply reading "Learn to speak Arapahoe" in a tweet and then having the Chicken Song stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
2021: it can’t even autocomplete a line
2022: it can’t even write a whole function
2023: it can’t even pass a coding interview
2024: it can’t even build an app
2025: it can’t even handle complex projects

"When I'm lying on my deathbed aged 93, my biggest regret in life isn't going to have been eating these crisps." - me, justifying eating a third packet today.
@Bucky_cm A much more fleshed out endgame please - from about level 60 it becomes very grindy with the only goal “fill your base with maxed out pals so that you stand a chance against the rage-quittingly tough endgame bosses.” Everything before that is wonderfully balanced.
Someone just pointed out that even if AI development stopped dead today, what we already have would continue to revolutionise almost every industry over the next ten years - medicine, coding, education, etc. But its advances aren't stopping; they are speeding up. Exciting times.
@DouglasKMurray Superb book, Douglas. Important and gripping. First time I've ever read a whole book in the same day before. Would recommend to everyone.
Beat #BaldursGate3 in Honour Mode! Spent most of the day plotting exactly how to approach the final battle. Took out the Netherbrain in one round. So happy! #BG3
@JeffDean It’s amazing, but thinks it’s June 2024. When asked to do a live search to get the current date, it thinks it has but is still convinced the date is June 2024, and even concludes my screenshots proving today‘s actual date are fabricated! It thinks I’m gaslighting it. Try.
So this is fascinating. Google's Gemini 2.5 model is generally amazing, but... not only does it think today is June 19, 2024, even after supposedly doing a live web search to check, when I give it a screenshot as proof, it concludes I've fabricated it.
Tip from a travel/coffee enthusiast: when somewhere exotic and looking for proper espresso or other artisan coffee, search google maps for "roastery" to find a cafe that's the real deal.
