@QBCares Our company file has been tied up with the QB support team for 9 days and we haven't been able to get clear answers from the support team. Can you assist me with understanding where it's at? Feel free to dm
My husband is in a work meeting and I just texted him from the other room: "Someone on Buy Nothing needs help babysitting this baby sheep she is fostering. I just volunteered us. Don't know if we'll get him. Lots of offers. But FYI." 🤣
What can we learn from the surprising turnaround at Barnes & Noble? (my latest)
This company almost died, but now it's growing again, and will open 30 new stores in 2023.
Other industries—music, newspapers, movies, etc.—should learn from their example. https://t.co/HtVDZGlgFr
@Noahpinion It wasn't the focus of the piece but I'm super curious about the "pensions" part of the graphic you shared - it's a bigger piece of the pie and the growth than i expected and I'm guessing it has public/private and generational impacts that i and others aren't aware of
@danielwinlander 55+ employees exiting seems to have created opportunities for movement which left some of those businesses lacking. My perception is also there may be a productivity gap as much as headcount driven by experienced workers/managers exiting
@danielwinlander There's still a bit to that 20-24 dip, and they perhaps are less trained so less productive since they missed 2 years of job experience. High demand is still being overlooked as a driver of the perceived shortage
"...but at the public intellectual level I think it’s just about time to move on to other, scarier things." Thanks, @Noahpinion for starting my weekend off right
@jaltma Very true and, to those tracking this be careful about averages. An "average" can still mean few people are in the sweet spot. Better is tracking cohorts hitting key milestones (like year 4)
@moseskagan "Building wealth in a more traditional business" doesn't have to mean "giving up". I entered a more traditional business after a pretty successful run in startup world, and my "traditional business" is incredibly rewarding.
Putin's invasion of Ukraine has given us a moment of moral clarity. We can no longer afford to indulge the illusions we spun for our own consumption during the Long Peace.
