It’s a cynical pre-election Hail Mary. Lip service.
If they win, it’s business as usual in DC after Election Day: patronage appointments, corporatism, & undermining home rule.
POTUS is going to do whatever he wants. They already let him.
“If DC voters exercise self-determination in this primary then the President will destroy self-determination in DC” is the McDuffy campaign’s closing argument.
If it were good-faith it would be remarkably naive.
But it’s bad-faith, and shameful opportunism.

You build governing majorities by bringing people into the tent.
Marginalizing people is a loser strategy.
@Chadson If I spend a week in Europe it costs like $7k which is half their annual take home. I don’t know how they do these month long vacations in summer.
