Thanks to @KirkusReviews for this amazing (starred!) review of my new book, TRIUMPH OF THE YUPPIES: AMERICA, THE EIGHTIES, AND THE CREATION OF AN UNEQUAL NATION. The review calls it "insightful and immensely entertaining."

@uprinting. You have a not crappy product at a not crappy price. But now I can’t get off your mailing list, which I think is a violation of about 67 laws. How many ways can I say unsubscribe?
Many college students and recent grads in my generation are resigned to the assumed value and prestige of investment banking, so I wanted to go back and interrogate the premise. I discussed @tmcgrathphilly's fantastic book, which tells the story of how we got here.
@NewYorker has a long, detailed and positive review of TRIUMPH OF THE YUPPIES in its new issue: "An entertaining recap of the period...If you're old enough, you were in [this movie]. It's fun to rewatch it, though."

“Triumph of the Yuppies is a searing cultural analysis of a time…when a new corporate elite was born, all seemingly at the expense of the blue-collar man” @tmcgrathphilly @GrandCentralPub https://t.co/dgmMUFYyzo
Just finished, "Triumph of the Yuppies" by @tmcgrathphilly. Remember this time well growing up in middle school and high school during this time, couldn't afford Polo and saw the impact of recession of 82 and stock collapse of 88. Makes sense now how this generation focused on themselves created some of the mess we have today. Recommend reading.
On today's PREVAIL, I talk to @tmcgrathphilly about what's wrong with the media & how it might be fixed, and his excellent new book, "Triumph of the Yuppies." This is a particularly good episode, if I do say so myself.

Philly friends: Please Join Inky columnist @Will_Bunch and me at the Barnes & Noble in Center City Philadelphia on AUGUST 7th for a conversation about my new book TRIUMPH OF THE YUPPIES: AMERICA, THE EIGHTIES, AND THE CREATION OF AN UNEQUAL NATION https://t.co/7TrKmqFRtp
“In its push to revive itself, in its zeal to recapture the dominance and prosperity of the postwar era,” America ended up “elevating self-interest over any sense of the common good,” writes @tmcgrathphilly in “Triumph of the Yuppies.”

Recently, @tmcgrathphilly and Jay McInerney and I had a fantastic conversation about Tom's new book "Triumph of the Yuppies," Jay's classic "Bright Lights, Big City," Donald Trump, Madonna, serial killers, Cuisinarts, shoulder pads, and so much more.

“Yuppie culture is like the undead. It persisted and thrived.”
Jay McInerney, author of “Bright Lights, Big City,” joins the FP Book Club to discuss how he became the “spokesman” for the movement that inspired @tmcgrathphilly’s “Triumph of the Yuppies.” https://t.co/5NW39ws6cx

The Free Press Book Club is back: @PeterSavodnik, “Triumph of the Yuppies” by @tmcgrathphilly, and the book that inspired its deep dive into the lasting impact of glamorous but greedy ’80s culture: Jay McInerney’s “Bright Lights, Big City.” https://t.co/5NW39ws6cx

Thanks to @AlexWitt and @MSNBC for this great conversation about TRIUMPH OF THE YUPPIES, #Trump, the shrinking middle class and the @1980s.

Trump’s ‘focus on glitz, glamor’ helped him profit as middle class hollowed out
Tom McGrath, author of “Triumph of the Yuppies”, joins @AlexWitt to discuss their impacts on American economic policies in the 1980’s and Donald Trump’s rise to fame.
