❗Severe Weather Threat ❗
The National Weather Service is forecasting an enhanced risk of severe weather for Mississippi on Sunday (3/15/26) evening. The highest threat is in north and central Mississippi, but the entire state could see severe storms.
Mississippi could experience:

After a brief return to near normal temperatures through tomorrow, we'll go back to unseasonably, dangerous cold through this weekend. This cold blast will be mostly dry but a few light showers or brief snow flurries can't be totally ruled out.
🥶Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to stick around Mississippi at least until Tuesday morning (1/27/26). If you have to be outside, please wear multiple layers and thoroughly cover your hands, feet, and head. Also watch out for these signs of hypothermia:
• Uncontrollable shivering
• Slurred speech or confusion
• Drowsiness or extreme fatigue
• Weak pulse or slow breathing
• Loss of coordination

Good morning! Confidence has increased that a mix of wintry precipitation and dangerous cold will impact the northwest portions of the area and possibly much of the area Friday night through the weekend. Please continue to monitor the latest forecast for additional updates.
There is an uncertain forecast concerning the potential for light snow this weekend. As of now, the chance for accumulating snow is low (< 30%). If it did occur, travel impacts are expected to be minimal.
With that said, this is a changing forecast so please monitor for updates.
There is a slight risk for severe storms in Mississippi throughout the day Friday (1/9/26) and into the early morning hours of Saturday (1/10/26). Severe storms, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes are all possible.
There is also an elevated risk of flash flooding for much of the state.
