@RonnieAdkins@JoJoFromJerz The congressionally authorized America250 was America's birthday celebration. The Trump administration's Freedom250 is funneling tax dollars to Trump's donors.
@justinaug09@rpuffinstuff2@Erdayastronaut They're not "doing a lap". They're doing a distant fly-by using a different spacecraft than will be used for future landing attempts.
@BradGroux@JohnCornyn@SpaceCenterHou It's not their shuttle, it's America's shuttle. America's Air and Space Museum is at the Smithsonian, which is a place people will actually visit, unlike anything in Texas.
@joehelle I don't think I've seen what I would call "congratulations", but it's good to see people getting the compensation they deserve due to their injuries, and being at 100% they (hopefully) don't have to deal with the mess that is the VA C&P process any more.
@HackingDave I was thinking a while ago about this technique its usefulness for wilderness SAR, if the missing person has a smart watch with BT/BLE.
But in an urban environment, detection ranges drop. 800ft in open air might be doable, but put the emitter in a basement and maybe not.
@bscholl Each SLS launch costs 70,000x as much as my truck, but my truck isn't taking anyone to the moon, so it's a meaningless comparison, just like this comparison to a niche pet project such as the XB-1.
@heatloss1986@ITARviolation Every car I've driven with this starts when you let off the brake a little, don't even need to release all the way.
Still takes too long if you're trying to get on the gas quick, which leads to the car lurching forward as it cranks, which is probably GREAT on the transmission.
@thebaldgeek NBC has rights this year, so Peacock or however you can get your local NBC station. A Roku device can be plugged into an antenna, otherwise you'll need the "local tv" add-on for the streaming service of your choice (if they offer it).
