๐ฏ agree here. Thanks to the @gnosispay team for their transparency and urgency and it worked for people deep in crypto.
However my dad (not on X) wouldnโt know or understand whatโs happening and I had to walk him through to secure his funds. Letโs think more about these users!
Thoughts on the @gnosispay hack:
1 - @gnosis_ team is honorable, they keep their word, users should not panic. However, after 5 years, so much in DeFi still relies on the integrity of the core team, which is unfortunate.
2 - Communication was excellent by crypto standards, but not great for a non-crypto audience. I followed updates on Twitter and Telegram, I understood what was likely happening behind the scenes.
Non-crypto people will need emergency numbers to call, proactive email updates, website updates, etc. They would not know, for example, that their other accounts (non crypto) are not impacted, or understand the timing involved in white hat rescue. They would not know to follow @koeppelmann on Twitter for updates, etc. It more or less works now because Gnosis Pay has <1000 active users.
Of course, these same "emergency" situations are ripe for exploitation by hackers! I can see future emails or calls from scammers urging people to send their money to a new address. So it's a delicate balance, and there should be safe channels for communication.
3 - There is no way DeFi stablecoin yield compensates users for this level of risk. Some (like me) do it to help move this space forward, but we should have no illusions any sane person will do this without legal guarantees and crypto-specific customer care infrastructure when issues arise.
The current process in crypto is pray the core team will do the right thing... That's not going to scale to a wider audience.
4 - I love Gnosis Pay and will continue to use it, just waiting for word I can recharge my card. A huge thanks to everyone working like crazy behind the scenes. ๐

@BlackAporia@growthepie_eth Back then when we decided on a name, we really believed this is what it should be, positive sum for everyone ๐ช๐ผ The team has done an amazing job, and for the socials special shout out to @TrueWaveBreak who tries to paint a neutral but good picture of what's going on currently.
@BlackAporia@growthepie_eth Thanks for the kind words ๐ฅฐ Nice to see this appreciation after 3 years of pushing to make the platform more and more user friendly and still provide enough data depth. ๐๐ผ

Blame game is the easiest, what we see brilliantly from most people here on X. Do something about it yourself and donโt just point at others.
It was great sharing some actual facts, data and opportunities in the Ethereum ecosystem with the students of MSc Venture Capital and Private Equity with Financial Technology. Can't wait to see them launch and grow something meaningful!
Want to see who else joined the course?๐๐ผ
Recently, our co-founder @tobschcom presented at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK - UCL.
Master's/PhD students studying finance and technology were walked through not only our platform but also the wider Ethereum ecosystem.
We take our role in educating seriously; the more people understand Ethereum, the more people will build on it.
I have been busy the last few months and it looks like I missed a lot of "ETH to 0 / Ethereum is dead" statements.
Especially this last week.
๐If you have any, share them here so I can add them๐
@LehmannLorenz@Dune@growthepie_eth Thanks for believing in growthepie from the beginning and building it as a core team member. It's been amazing working with you, getting your feedback and expertise in data, and getting us to the point where we are today with the platform. ๐๐ผ๐ฅง Thanks and all the best at Dune ๐
I'll again just be quiet today, because I think there's enough "ultra smart" people today sharing how they've known for a long time and how they see a shift, and now finally everything breaks, and it's because they said so and they know. ๐คก
I usually refrain from commenting on the current thing of the day because itโs almost always rage bait. But since everyone seems to be saying theyโre bearish on the direction of the EF, Iโll say the opposite, Iโve truly never been more bullish. There is now a very clear direction
The Ethereum Foundation is doubling down on what it uniquely should be doing: making the entire Ethereum experience, from the protocol to wallets to middleware to apps, maximally self-sovereign, private, secure, resilient, and easy to use
The cypherpunk vision is building systems that canโt be evil, not just today, but decades from now when incentives, leadership, and the world itself have changed. What makes Ethereum unique is that itโs still actually trying to fulfill that original vision, building a global consensus system with the properties the original cypherpunks would have wanted. And the EF is here to help defend and strengthen that path
That also means positioning Ethereum where it actually belongs, alongside the broader open source and freedom tech movement. The truth is, a lot of that world doesnโt like us right now and I get it. We have to prove over time that Ethereum belongs there. That means actively rejecting the negative-sum, extractive parts of this industry and doubling down on building positive-sum apps that makes people freer
Yes, organizational shifts are messy. New leadership, clearer direction, some pain in the short term. But in the long term, this is exactly what the Ethereum Foundation should be. Thereโs a lot of hard work ahead. Iโm excited for it
