@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports I’m not on this site much anymore. This was the start of thread that I was responding to. My only point was in the past, they have been in top tier of attendance and while I give credence to your point (as mentioned) think there are multiple factors.
@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports Never said attendance would explode this year.
Will hopefully be much better.
& SF/OAK is not comparable to Mets/Yanks.
If anything ownership from OAK probably helped drive SF attendance.
@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports The Giants have won three World Series in last 15 years. They don’t have a legit team in that city. They have an amazing park.
Saying Mets attendance is bad *only* because it’s hard to get there is misguided IMHO.
@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports I’m not sure how you’re interpreting a one year spike when I’m saying this has much more to do with sustainability over time.
@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports Umm, no. Variety of factors. First, not one city you mentioned has a team playing in the same city.
Toronto is literally only MLB team in Canada.
You think Colorado is super accessible ?
@WexlerRules@MrMustSeeTV@ZackScottSports The 2006-2008 stretch was not just stadium closing. It was last time Team was legit sustained WS threat, had stars, & ownership spent legitimately.
I agree with your general premise but as cited in 80s they were always high in attendance.
@jwr020819 Stearns was clearly strategic. There are options. Fans who are getting upset are ironically same ones who didn’t want Stearns to sign Montas.
I am not a McNeil fan. But the chances of him losing playing time to either: Acuña, Mauricio or Baty is remote. That said, there’s a decent chance McNeil is moved to LF, so Nimmo can have DH days. This will provide opportunity for the trio & most likely build trade value. #LGM
@Metsmerized@JonHeyman Didn’t they offer him a one year deal & he said “no?”
I always want the player to get as much as possible but if he wanted to come back that badly he would have taken deal.
@WexlerRules@Mets No 💯
Sounds like they’re done *for now*
I do expect them to be aggressive early & moving towards deadline.
& I would keep an eye on SDP. West will be good, if they get off to a bad start could absolutely see Preller taking a machete to the team again.
@WexlerRules@MetsDad914 Pure spec on this obviously but my thought about his PS starts was always they were trying to play head games with opponents because they knew their SPs were on fumes & they just didn’t have the BP LAD did.
There’s 0 practical reason why he was starting those games.
@PSLToFlushing@sal_licata 💯
Would say the two most important questions in the lineup are Vientos and Alvarez.
Can Vientos repeat what he did last year? Can Alvarez grow offensively (fangraphs suggests he will)?
If one of these two things happen #Mets offensively will be elite.
I’m not a McNeil fan by any stretch, but he’s still owed 30m$ over next 2 years before his club option. Hard to just bury that on the bench and only way for him to build value is for him to play. I don’t see Acuña or Baty taking playing time from him anytime soon. #Mets#LGM
I personally believe second base is going to be a very fluid situation for the #Mets heading into Opening Day and perhaps beyond. They have a lot of options, its a new chance for Brett Baty too.
@WexlerRules@haynes_uno@Mets The price is ridiculous. Burnes trade is a fair comp. The fact Preller wants that much more is ridiculous.
You never know with Preller but judging by what’s going on with ownership, it wouldn’t surprise me to see them try to flip players at deadline especially if they struggle.
