On this day in 1975, AC/DC released "It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll)"
The association of this song with Bon Scott is so strong that Brian Johnson refuses to sing it out of respect.
SHOCKER: S&P 500 will NOT fast track SpaceX. So it will take AT LEAST a year, probably more. This is wild considering every other big boy index is 5-15 days. This could create significant return dispersion bt 'passive' indexes. Choose wisely.
It is difficult to imagine an American who has been a greater parasite on the public coffers than @BernieSanders. He has contributed NOTHING to the United States other than decades of cantankerous and sullen envy-fuelled anger at those who create.
I appreciate your write up and in good faith have tried to see through that perspective but I’m unable to reconcile why if Tesla has a reasonable shot to grow to $3T market in the next 18 months or so a merger of equals now is a good idea. Either you believe Tesla is going to stagnate from a business POV for 3+ years or a merger of equals is a bad deal. One of these is true. You cannot simultaneously believe Tesla is close to returning to parabolic growth AND a merger of equal at ~$2T is a good idea.
@RockChartrand I feel people also mix up foundational values with stuff on the fringe. Like enjoy the pork buns, pho and butter chicken but the freedom of speech is kinda non negotiable.
Milton Friedman was right: you can't have open immigration and an ever expanding welfare state.
The problem however isn't immigrants. It's entitlements.
A free society attracts people who want to work, trade, and produce. A welfare state attracts political battles over who pays and who receives.
Another mistake is treating assimilation as optional. A society cannot remain free if it continually compromises its founding principles to accommodate ideas hostile to freedom, individual rights, and equal treatment under the law.
The contradiction is trying to combine individual rights with endless redistribution while abandoning the values that made those rights possible in the first place.
REI has competitive benefits (health insurance, 401k, gear discounts, paid sabbaticals, outdoor time off), strong work-life balance, supportive outdoor-focused culture, and high satisfaction.
A full 88% of employees say it’s a great place to work. It has been on the Fortune 100 “Best Companies” for about 20 years.
@paulg It’s also about perspective. Political creatures see everything as political. It’s the sewer they live in so they think we all must live there too.
UNREAL. In the wake of 60 Minutes trying to smear Bibi Netanyahu for having a “hunger” for “conflict,” the Israeli PM explains how the Hamas/Iran attack on October 7th changed him:
Netanyahu: “Before the October 7th, I was considered perhaps the most restrained Prime Minister in Israel's history. I was conceived as being politically tough, but militarily very restrained.
Obviously, it changed on October 7th because they were going to annihilate us. I didn't think it was just an attack by Hamas. I saw it as it was, an attack by the Iran axis to try to annihilate us through a noose of death.
And I said on the second day of the war, I said, we're going to change the Middle East. We're going to change this condition where they're ganging up on us, thinking they're going to wipe out the one and only Jewish state, wipe out 3,500 years of Jewish history. It's not going to happen. Not on my watch. And I said to the Israeli citizens, not on your watch.”
