The presumption of innocence is real and important. It cannot be invoked selectively only for certain crimes. If you reject it for one, you reject it for all.
It is almost always -
"How can you defend the guilty?"
Rarely -
"How can you prosecute the innocent?"
Never -
"How can you stand by and leave someone with nobody to speak for them at all?"
