A potential client asked me to explain my coaching process. I said, usually, we need to journey back in time before we can go forward. Often, we need to deal with events our brain has remembered falsely. Read more here: https://t.co/HBHfddr7cd
Just Talking is a weekly justice conversation on the four gospels of the Christian scriptures. This week, Herb & I look at Jesus’ words of hope for the moment when the Jewish temple was destroyed. Can there be new life at a moment of political turmoil?

@ellenwhite The sense of peace and joy will be a permanent replacement to the feelings of weakness and unworthiness. God does not call us to continuously beat ourselves up. “If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed!”
@ellenwhite I’d encourage a phrase change to, “Dwelling on the negative is toxic.” Anxiety is a real mental health condition that millions of people suffer from that is not merely the result of choice. It’s the result of stress and trauma that people often don’t have the ability to control
@RTStephensonGC We can be like Jesus and destroy power structures and remove people from power that harm the marginalized and oppress the innocent. He’s always on the side of the outcast. The world always sides with the powerful and privileged. Jesus is on the side of those seen as the problem.
@AdventistReview Sad to see that the church is denying itself the spiritual gifts of LGBTQ people. Thankfully, God finds other ways for their gifts to be used. We Adventists just miss out on the blessings. Our tithe dollars at work.
@3abn 3ABN peeps: when you get to heaven, and you will, because God is incredibly gracious, his LGBTQ+ kids are going to smother you with love. They will forget everything you have done to them down here. It will truly be a miracle.
@JenniferJillS @dasscherick Absolutely. Completely different focus than trying to end sin, but it is the work of a lifetime. It will never be completed on this earth.
@JenniferJillS @dasscherick Racism is structured and institutionalized dehumanization which flows from one group of human beings not loving another group of human beings. I didn’t say that sin doesn’t exist. I’m saying that solving sin doesn’t happen by trying to get rid of sin. Learning to love ends sin
@BibleHowto @this_is_arise@dasscherick Loyalty to Jesus requires followers to be extremely political. Not partisan. But political. Jesus fought for people until the powers-that-be killed him. To distance from the world is to distance ourselves from where Jesus is working even at this very moment
@JenniferJillS @dasscherick God stopped obsessing about sin a long time ago. We’re the ones who have picked up the obsession. If we would actually love ourselves as God loves us and love others as God loves them, we might actually figure out sin doesn’t need to matter to us either
@adventistchurch Adventists believe in Present Truth, which means that God is always in the process of revealing new things to us. We believe we are a movement of prophecy. Let’s continue to learn and grow from what God is saying today!
@adventistchurch I wish the talents of our LGBTQ+ members would be welcomed in our church. Isn’t it strange that people that the church doesn’t believe have the Holy Spirit have spiritual gifts?
