If you're a family who homeschooled to avoid ideology and to help your children grow in their faith, it absolutely makes sense that you'd be wary of government check-ins or restrictions on how you educate.
I grew up in a homeschooled family of eleven and the thought of some secular government official showing up to our house to examine our home life and tell my mother whether or not our (very Catholic) education was acceptable by government standards makes my blood boil.
And meanwhile, we were all up at 6am going to daily mass, chores, focusing throughout a very structured school day, and better readers than our peers my entire adolescence.
So it's not just more messy families who might not want the government in their homeschooling affairs!

The American Medical Association reportedly wants a correction for a Feb. NYT story that mentions the AMA's alignment with another professional organization against transition surgeries for kids. The NYT wrote a rebuttal that featured an AMA quote. Here's how Big Tech responded:
Big Tech's AI chatbots largely side with The New York Times, not the American Medical Association. Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot and Perplexity all agree that the AMA did show agreement with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' position against most trans surgeries for kids.
