Can the reason for commercial failure of an advanced technology for #DriverlessCars be that their strategy is not driven by @leanstartup thinking? Great write-up by @binarybits comparing Xerox's approach to Waymo's and Apple's to Voyage's and Nuro's.
Tweetstorm time! Six months ago I thought Waymo was the clear leader in self-driving technology. Now I think they've gotten themselves stuck in a technological cul-de-sac. Here's why my thinking changed... https://t.co/lYfgo1oklc
Companies are great at quantifying the performance of their solutions: "x% faster, y% better at z, etc."
Few companies are capable of quantifying their customer’s jobs, pains, and gains:
“need x% more precise, etc.”
Therefore they never know if they’re really creating value.
A founder friend who is building a consumer startup asked for some guidance on setting initial user acquision targets.
My response: delight 100-1000 users and then reassess.
"drone deliveries" ≠ "pizza" or "Amazon". In Rwanda, @zipline already delivers blood by autonomous drones. https://t.co/uaWrzjjrzD by @Fiosracht shows how advanced the system already is. #innovation
@jiriknesl IMO there are two factors that contribute to this - one is about emotions (as mentioned by @romanripa) and second one is about time and effort needed to explain and understand something.
As a CEO, I do not want heroic efforts, enduring loyalty, or even passion for the mission. I want colleagues who are rested, happy, and live full lives. They get more and better work done and I don’t have to cry myself to sleep.
