Dominic Dubas, an Omaha native and active-duty Air Force firefighter, is fighting for his life after a hit-and-run in Austin. We have learned the suspect fled to Mexico. I urge @Claudiashein and Mexican authorities to work with U.S. officials to return him to the United States to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Dominic and his family deserve accountability.

Please join me in saying a prayer tonight for the family and friends of Isai Huerta of Local 1665. Isai, who served with Odessa Fire for 9 years, made the ultimate sacrifice yesterday.
Two other FFs were injured in the incident. They are also in my thoughts as they recover.
From my counterpart, Justin Haag of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, based in Chadron, NE. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the firefighters, responders and Game and Parks Commission staff battling this huge South Fork Fire.
Today we honored our brother Bobby Kilduff Jr. on his final ride through the city he gave his all to. May he rest in peace. We will forever keep his Legacy alive & his family in our hearts and prayers.
Thankful the driver, our Trooper and loyal K-9 partner weren’t injured.

For too long, suicide in the fire service lived in the shadows.

Few dry eyes as the procession carrying CFD FF-EMT Michael Altman arrived here at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. Altman, fondly known as “Mickey,” was a fourth-generation Chicago firefighter. He was preparing to welcome his second child with his wife in just a few short weeks.
Shortly after 5 pm yesterday, Deputies responded to a call for a dog in distress in the area of 228th and Harney Street, just south of Waterloo. When they arrived they were informed by homeowners that a dog had fallen through the ice on the lake and was treading water. Deputy Kubik, a DCSO K9 handler, made use of a kayak that was on one of the homeowner's docks and quickly made his way across the ice, using his oar to break the ice as he paddled to the dog. About the time he reached the dog, @Waterloo800 also arrived and assisted in pulling Deputy Kubik and Boomer the dog back to shore.
Once on shore, Deputy Clark took the 'chilly dog' inside to warm him up with a hair dryer. We are happy to report that after a brief vet visit yesterday, Boomer is doing great.
Thank you to our courageous Deputies and our partners at Waterloo Fire and Rescue for their assistance.
