@VicVijayakumar In screening we ask for recursive and iterative variants, and then explanations of the trade-offs - it is a good indicator of whether a dev understands how function calls work, can catch poor devs very fast. Our codebase has a lot of tree traversal etc so does matter for us
@EurostarUK you've just informed us that our seats have been changed, splitting our family so our 5 year old is now in a different carriage to either of us. Are you sure that's legal?
@chamath This is extrapolating a lot from some very shaky data - "visits to homepage" may say very little, eg. I extensively use Cursor daily but can't recall last visit to their site. Does it include someone deeplinking to a project hosted via an editor subdomain? etc
Forgive the self-promotion but @BuildWithScram will solve all the issues with the AI “crapper slopware” (I agree with the complaint).
Our current internal demos are 🤯
We emailed some screenshots to the waitlist recently…
If this was anyone but the Government it would be a payment scandal. Fine to tell me I owe you money, absolutely not fine to tell me less than I owe then keep racking up charges on something you never told me about
@HMRCcustomers it is beyond rude to tell me I owe you money, show me the outstanding amount to pay as part of the payment flow in Gov Gateway, I pay in full, but you then charge me extra interest on top afterwards and keep accruing more, after I think I'm fully paid up
No worries @github, you take that remaining 25% of the budget we've already paid as a bonus for yourself and we'll take the rest of the day off, given that our whole CI pipeline has stalled
The single biggest threat to European innovation is the loss of talent.
Trump has handed Europe the greatest opportunity.
$100K per year for an H1B Visa.
This is our moment @Keir_Starmer@RachelReevesMP@peterkyle.
Give all H1B Visas fast track to the UK.
Make the UK a talent magnet.
Peter, you have my cell. Let’s do this!
@GeorgeBevis I think the point is that their immigration system is pretty horrific, with slavery a fairly unavoidable outcome of the way the visa system works, and life is pretty unpleasant for all the indentured workers not technically classed as slaves either. Hard to be positive about
@GergelyOrosz I've ended up with a second Cursor workspace which I can jump to and pick off small bugs in when waiting on the main one. Sometimes works well, sometimes gets very confusing!
@theandreboso I think two years ago I'd have said that was amazing, but these days does it make (many) people think "ooh that's very complex I just want a prompt"?
@nocheerleader@boltdotnew Though to be fair, I think those coding gatekeepers are generally inside people's own heads - the advice forever has been to jump in and start coding if you want to learn to code, it's just that a lot of people found it inaccessible despite all the tutorials etc out there.
@NigelGodfrey@nocheerleader@boltdotnew Pretty certain quite a lot of mine is still running bits of the UK National Insurance system. But not the heavily recursive C++ function I wrote just as I was leaving that coredumped the mainframe...
@NigelGodfrey Degrades nastily under load - working fine and then you just hit a cliff and it locks up. Also IIRC the faster table formats have some compromises that aren't great?
