In the span of a week, California politicians are increasing taxes by billions and raising the gas tax again.
We're already the most unaffordable state, with the highest overall taxes and the highest gas tax. This latest affront to common sense won't help.

Five days after the LA election, Spencer Pratt falls to third place and a woman who hardly anyone voted for in person, Nithya Raman, totally dominated in mail voting to come in second. No one with a functional brain believes these results.
Federal prosecutors are accusing California of blocking access to voter registration records as a legal battle over voter roll maintenance continues in federal court. https://t.co/J5ax43YIpm
CA Dems are in a lose-lose-lose situation.
If Raman makes it, and it’s legitimate, Bass will lose.
If Raman makes it, and Bass wins, it will be seen as illegitimate and Dems will lose.
Either way, the election rightfully looks illegitimate, which undermines any outcome in 2026 and 2028.
Gavin Newsom will look like a fraud and will lose.
Spencer Pratt got 0 out of 24,000 votes in a late night LA ballot drop.
0/24,000
A guy getting around 30% support got 0 out of 24,000.
Astronomically small probability of happening.
Impossible.
California no longer even hides it.
Doors need to be kicked in.
“In California, we believe that every vote should be counted, and that’s what’s happening right now.”
Yeah and so does every other state, they just don’t take 5 weeks to do it. Good Lord he’s a moron.
@JackThompsonFOX DISGUSTING! Keep Steyer from winning anything! We can’t have this immoral out-of-touch wannabe politician even taste an elected office.

I think OCFA is doing their best with a non-standard situation.
However, in the last four days, the Army National Guard at Los Alamitos and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers could have buried the Garden Grove tanks in sand bags.
HESCO barriers used in war zones were originally invented for flood control. Pictured a UH-60 with a Beluga Bag. It’s the same concept.
Risk is three aircrew at any given time. Similar to any other teams that have been deployed.
Minimum is to direct the blast energy away from homes 300 feet away. Crews would still have access to cool the tank.
Entombing it entirely would insulate the tank. It would be most dangerous when it is “capped.” Enough sand, it would entrap most of the fumes, that could be doused in water, foam, or whatever, to keep contamination on site.
Again I think OCFA is working with the best information and experience they have — and no real help from the state.
ChatGPT says the estimated energy is 70 megajoules or 17 kilograms of TNT (assuming the tank ruptures at 100 psi; there isn’t a lot of information on this). That’s like one GBU-39 SDB and roughly matches the blast radius released.
Anyway this is just what I would do based on my experience.
