@cshperspectives A flat ordered list will always have a first and last, no matter how many *** you put in a specific instance of said list (* which will be lost in most other instances of the list, anyway). CRediT is a solution, also to the problem of "who was the bioinformatician in the paper?"
@pauldauenhauer Maybe developing the talent already in this country, and that is completely wasted through subpar schools, poverty, lack of access to the right networks, and so on, could be an alternative aim. Those are the people who vote, after all.
@ManuelBibes @NatureComms If original article is under CC-BY license, you just need to cite the source in the caption. Otherwise, fee applies for commercial purposes (which a review article is, because it will be monetized in some way).
Me: "I want to know about X".
Bad organization: "Oh, it would be nice to know, but we don't have a budget for it".
Good organization: "Nice idea, here's some time and resources for you to dig."
Great organization: "Yep, we've looked into this in 2021. Here's the slide deck."
Person: "Oh, I so wish I could do X".
Me: "Here's a tool that does it for you".
Person: "Oh, but not like that! I'll go back to my spreadsheet/Outlook/carrier pigeon"
