This is an outrageous, disgraceful smear on John Healey — and an outright lie. There are a ton of ways to finance more for defence — starting with net zero — without taking a penny from schools or hospitals. Reeves should be ashamed of herself for allowing this nonsense. Suggests she’s really desperate.
@TfL Bus Stop E, Sloane Square, 1035hrs, Reg No. LTZ 1482. The three photographs attached to my original post easily identify the driver.
I appreciate that drivers are often forced to operate under extreme pressure, however this does not excuse his rude and threatening behaviour!
Appalling and threatening behaviour from this bus driver who was refusing access to a disabled lady in a wheelchair at Sloane Square, until fellow passengers intervened. Action required please @TfL
What a disappointment the Elizabeth Memorial has become
We are told The Queen on horseback was rejected as it was a "personal hobby". Not true
HM was on horseback for Trooping the Colour - that would have made the PERFECT statue
Canada has a splendid statue of HM on a horse (see attached photo)
The new statue of The Queen will depict her standing in her Garter robes. The pose worked in the Anigoni portrait, but is not ideal here.
More importantly, why is her consort, Prince Philip, depicted in a normal suit? This will make for an extremely odd - indeed, rather embarrassing - juxtaposition. It just looks wrong.
The Duke of Edinburgh was a Knight of the Garter and should have been depicted wearing his Garter robes, ideally over his naval uniform as Lord High Admiral.
The statues of King George VI and his consort Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in The Mall correctly depict them BOTH wearing their Garter robes, the King also in naval uniform. (see attached photo).
This new memorial is supposed to be far grander than the King George VI memorial as it is to pay tribute to the longest-reigning sovereign in British history - and the second longest in world history.
I was hoping for an Elizabeth Memorial to rival the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace and the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens.
This project does not rise to the occasion.
The Victorians and Edwardians knew how to stir British hearts with something grand and triumphant.
It was probably too much to hope some of that spirit might have inspired Lord Foster and his design team.
@cabinetofficeuk Such a shameful and tawdry attempt to honour our longest reigning monarch; your press release even contains a spelling error!
What happened to the magnificent equestrian statue that made such a bold statement?
This feeble attempt really does sum up the demise of our nation.
@MattStevns@TfL The usual modus operandi of @tfl underground staff is to sit in their booths, completely oblivious to fare dodgers whilst playing games on their mobile devices and/or scrolling the internet; what a sad and boring life they must have!
