What I Truly Think About the War in Palestine

The ongoing war in Gaza is not just a geopolitical conflict — it is one of the most heartbreaking humanitarian crises of our time.

What we are witnessing is not a battle between equals. It’s a devastating tragedy where thousands of civilians — men, women, and children — are losing their lives, homes, and hope. Hospitals, schools, and entire communities have been reduced to rubble. Human suffering is now a daily reality.

Let’s be clear: killing civilians is never justified. Whether through rocket attacks or airstrikes, targeting non-combatants is a violation of international law and basic human morality.

Who is most effective right now? Sadly, it’s not diplomats or peacebuilders — it’s military machinery and media narratives. Powerful players are dominating the stage, while the real heroes — medics, aid workers, and ordinary people — are simply trying to survive and protect others.

Yes, Hamas must be held accountable for its actions. But it's nothing compared to Israel. With its overwhelming military power, its response has crossed the boundaries of proportionality and humanitarian norms. The world must stop turning a blind eye to collective punishment and siege tactics.

Who should stop? Both sides must end violence. But those with more power bear more responsibility to de-escalate and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need.

Who should help?

The international community must step in — not just with statements, but with actions.

The UN and ICC must investigate war crimes impartially.

Countries(US, EU, Arab League) with influence must demand a ceasefire and stop enabling continued bloodshed through silence or support.

And we, the global civil society — people like you and me — must not stay silent.

We must speak up, donate where we can, share real stories, and hold our leaders accountable.

This is no longer just about politics. It’s about the value of human life. Until justice, dignity, and freedom are ensured, true peace will remain impossible.

Fatema Begum, from Barguna District, received cash assistance of BDT 5,000 (US$45) from #WFP to help her prepare for #CycloneRemal, which was hurtling towards Bangladesh coastlines in late May 2024.

In September, the World Food Programme, Bangladesh launched the second phase of its #flood #response for communities hardest hit by the August floods. Over 2,000 women and their families were among the first to receive a cash transfer of BDT 6,000 (US$50) via Mobile Financial Service, bKash.

#WFP is leveraging existing government #social #protection #systems—the Mother and Child Benefit Programme (#MCBP) and the Vulnerable Women Benefit Programme (#VWBP)—to reach vulnerable women whose families were severely impacted by the August floods. While the current target is 106,000 families in Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, Laxmipur, and Moulvibazar, #WFP is ready to assist 120,000 more if additional funds can be mobilized soon.

In the first phase of the #flood #response, WFP distributed #fortified #biscuits to over 120,000 families—around 600,000 people—in Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Laxmipur, and Cox’s Bazar districts to meet their immediate food needs.
