It's easy to laugh at because it's so stupid on its face, but the federal government is right now using the power of the state to enforce a lie so obvious that Leavitt herself doesn't believe it. Nobody promoting it believes it. But that is precisely why these people will use police power to impose that lie on Americans. People asking "Where's the evidence?" are missing that point. The point is that the new right believes truth does not matter; only force matters.
every single dipshit gun nut who jerks themselves off about "feds" and "glowies" watched two American citizens get gunned down in broad daylight by government agents without any investigation or trial and their response is silence
•The U.S. Senate may hold a floor vote TODAY which would overturn a 20-year moratorium on sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest land in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is the most visited Wilderness in the United States.
🛶 Enjoying the Minnesotan/Canadian wilderness by canoe or other lesser watercraft is one of our nations greatest available pastimes, and one I have personally enjoyed my entire life. We must protect these public lands from the rapacious capitalists threatening to turn them into a poisoned wasteland.
•This vote in Congress would open the door to copper mining at the headwaters of this entire ecosystem. This kind of mining produces toxic pollution, including acid runoff and heavy metals, that can contaminate nearby waters.
•The Boundary Waters supports a major outdoor economy that sustains thousands of jobs and generates over a billion dollars a year - built on clean water and intact public lands. But this vote would clear the way for toxic mining that puts all of that at risk. It would also set a dangerous precedent, making it easier to roll back protections for public lands across the country, including wilderness areas, national monuments, and national parks.
•This is a defining moment. If you care about clean water, public lands, and protecting places we can’t replace, now is the time to speak up.
•Protect the Boundary Waters, and vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Let’s save this treasured place for all of us—forever. https://t.co/JhNAR6Za2O
The media now has a long history of passing off people deeply connected to GOP politics as regular everyday voters in the Trump era. It took me like 90 seconds to find out that she doesn’t live in DC and testified in Congress in favor of Trump’s tax cut bill, which feels like relevant context if she’s going to be interviewed about her views. @ABC
He obeyed demands, had a gun permit, was a US citizen, didn’t defend himself… and was still murdered by ICE. Yet somehow these conservative bootlickers will still justify his killing
They are trying to eliminate the inheritance tax which doesn’t even kick in unless you make close to $14 million while telling you to eat one piece of broccoli and a plain tortilla to save money.
Once again, I must be fucking blind if I can’t see this federal agent “trying to move past him.” The hard-right’s narrative on all of these incidents are blatant lies. You have to be a moron to believe them.
🚨DHS was caught lying about ANOTHER ICE shooting, this time in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and the red flags are piling up fast.
On Christmas Eve, ICE claimed agents approached a work van, the driver “used the vehicle as a weapon,” tried to run them over, and agents were forced to open fire.
Sound familiar?
It should, because this is the exact same script they’ve been using everywhere.
But, after Anne Arundel County police publicly disputed ICE’s version, DHS suddenly changed key details they’d already doubled down on.
Originally, DHS said there was a passenger in the van who was injured when the van crashed.
That story? Not true.
Turns out that man, Salomon Antonio Serrano-Esquivel, was already in ICE custody, hours earlier, handcuffed, riding in an ICE vehicle when that vehicle crashed. He wasn’t in the van. He wasn’t a passenger. He couldn’t brace himself because ICE had him cuffed.
ICE didn’t correct the record until after:
• Photos showed a bullet hole on the passenger side of the van
• Video showed agents pulling one man from the driver’s side
• Local police contradicted ICE’s claims
• The press started asking questions
And ICE still won’t answer basic ones, like:
Why was someone already under arrest being driven around instead of transported to custody?
What are their transport protocols?
Why did DHS release information that was flat-out wrong?
A policing expert confirmed what anyone with common sense already knows: you don’t keep an arrested person in your vehicle while doing other operations. It’s dangerous. It’s reckless. And it’s not standard practice.
This is now multiple shootings, multiple states, same talking points:
“The vehicle was a weapon.”
“We feared for our lives.”
“No video.”
“Trust us.”
Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, DHS is actively blocking local police from investigating the killing of a U.S. citizen by ICE. In Maryland, local police are pushing back and actually investigating, which is likely the only reason this lie unraveled at all.
When a federal agency:
• Releases false information
• Changes its story only after being caught
• Shoots first and hides evidence later
• Obstructs independent investigations
That’s not “law enforcement under pressure.”
That’s a pattern.
The question isn’t whether ICE keeps lying.
The question is how many shootings it will take before people admit this is systemic, dangerous, and completely out of control.
Translation:
"Our lawyers advise that we will humiliatingly lose any attempted court martial based upon our ridiculous claims, so I'm instead going to test whether I can reduce a retired naval officer's pension by administrative action to punish him for hurting my feelings."
