Excited to share our article in @NatureComms describing a strategy to solve small #membraneprotein transporter structures using #cryoEM. We solved three structures of a 42 kDa efflux transporter from a single sample. Congratulations to the team and great collaboration w/@danengw

This was an amazing effort by a talented group of people! Using #nmr and #mdsimulations we show how dynamics plays a key role in the mechanism of substrate recognition by the bacterial transporter EmrE.
Kudos to @JianpingLi9 for leading this effort to reveal the proton-coupling mechanism of the NorA transporter from S. aureus. It was a fun collaboration among Yan Li, Akiko Koide, Huihui Kuang, @TorresVJ_Lab, Shohei Koide, and @danengw.

We used the FGF receptor kinase domain to understand how gatekeeper mutations lead to elevated activity. If you like experimental and computational biophysics, check it out. Thank you to the entire team for a fun collaboration. @BillyMarsiglia

Ever wondered why a Na+ co-transporter bound with Na+ or substrate alone won’t flip to the other side, causing leakage?
Now a collaboration with the @Chris_mulligan lab has found an answer. The work was led by @DavidBSauer.
