Today is the 3rd Friday of the end of Dec, end of Q4, end of '24 - the biggest OPEX ever in the US market, over $6 trillion notional worth of options expiring. So what's the trading plan for today?! Same as always, just follow the system.
The sun had been shining for too long in the paradise. Took a slap in a bid-ask burst with almost 1000% slippage in the most liquid options market in the world. No, not Aug 5th, but a boring calm Sept day. #rugpull#0dte

@thechartist Prob just testosterone levels in decline, so time to hand it over to Zach and let us youngsters see how real money is made with high-growth strats.. :D
@rjparkerjr09 Haha.. imagine a headline "The top was put in by CTA 'trend-followers' who were selling into new highs". It's evolving into mean-following. Shows how hard it truly is to stick to doing the right thing. #tfpn
@basso_tom Shorting markets near ATHs (gold, cocoa), IF it's price based, then must be very short-term trend or mean reversion trades. In longer term view looks like the latter, but sounds like partial scaling across timeframes. Doesn't matter if it works for you. ETR!
@moritzseibert@RichB118 @rjparkerjr09 Not cutting winners is plain and simple, but even though I understand the concept behind "more markets is better", the debate remains as I see in Mulvaney's case the pyramiding into fewer trending markets is what's behind the insane return.
@thechartist Interesting that avg. loss is larger than avg. win (and a higher win rate). You obv avoid left tails but looks more like a negatively skewed basket of strategies. A podcast idea to @QuantiveAlpha about the evolution from systematic single stock trends to diversifying with ETFs:)
Had $1.4M notional exposure of SPX 0DTE long puts print today that were leftovers from spread trading earlier in the day, expecting them to expire worthless but ended ITM lol. Need to make it a strategy. Merry Xmas! π π #0dte#spx#luck
@bluechipdaily A good story but going through his 13F filings, can't say the SMA200 and trend are relevant anymore. He seems to be more of a fundamental / macro guy than a technician these days.
@AlpDogu_ @rjparkerjr09 @XSpaces@RichB118@OMikhailov@cordura21@moritzseibert@RuleByPowerLaw What if the 200 days prior to March 2023 also had a good rate of change.. It doesnβt need another year to trigger, cause relative is relative and so it depends on the overall basket you compare to, itβs not an isolated input like absolute mom that looks one price path alone.
