Mine is also very hard to open. I feel like ripping that shit out of the ceiling and crushing it to pieces. I'll have to go online now to try a learn how to open it. Perfect business model. Instead of buying a cheap battery I'll end up buying a new unit
I bet that there's a sick fuck out there whose job was setting up the smoke alarm low battery reminders so they would only happen in the middle of the night
The interval between beeps it's perfectly adjusted. If you decide to ignore it and deal with it in the morning... It'll beep right when you're falling asleep again. It's impossible to ignore
@AdamRackis Reminds me of the workers houses built next to the factories during the industrial revolution. I bet that soon there will be job ads for coders offering housing in the building in the middle of nowhere. Small cities for startups. 😟
@AdamRackis Minimum 40hrs/week says it all. This is a case where the job is your life. After a while you wouldn't even know what to do with free time if you had it. 🤷♂️
@allenholub Oh, that's easy. Send them a very basic cv that barely does the job. Call them to get some feedback then send them a revised version. Rinse and repeat.
I've long swapped Airbnb for https://t.co/62DcRhrCpA there are multiple stories about this company abandoning both guests and owners. As soon as it sounds expensive to fix a problem, they're gone.

@anothercohen Are you saying they would be even bigger if their UI was decent? If their market cap is that high at least they got the important stuff right and didn't get distracted trying to build perfect software. Sounds like a good idea to me.
@DThompsonDev The 1st year I lived in the uk it never went above 24C. Now, Portugal gets to 40C, and its hot from May to Sep. Most houses don't have AC either. It's becoming popular these days but I'd say >50% don't have it.
@rothgar like monads, the ability to explain it is inversely proportional to your understanding of it. Just assume everyone else is as clueless and it'll be fine.
@billgil Spoiled kids in the uk... Living in a society that accepts this crap.
If my daughter ever does this we'll be discussing a plan to get her working full time and living on her own.
"2,300 tents and 500 sleeping bags were left behind in Reading."
This waste is just shocking. As a kid I treasured my crappy single skin tent as it was all I could afford. Even went camping on snow with it during a storm.
