Super excited to be starting this work! Big thanks to @AldridgeLab, @TuftsLyme, and @petedoesscience for all their helpful feedback and support during the writing and submission process!
.@trevercsmith of @TuftsMedSchool has been named winner of the #BAL 2024 Emerging Leader Award. Dr. Smith will receive $150K for his pioneering research on combination therapies for persistent #Lymedisease. His work aims to create a first-of-its-kind drug interaction compendium to better target persistent Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) infections. This could lead to more effective treatments, offering new hope for those w/ persistent #Lyme.

How does M. tuberculosis respond spatiotemporally to the host microenvironment & influence infection outcome? Grantee Shumin Tan tests her hypothesis using single-cell resolution.
🥳Congrats Dr. Tan! @TuftsUniversity

We are looking for a postdoc to work with our drug combinations team to design multidrug therapies for TB. Please write me if you have an adventurous and team-oriented spirit, attention to detail, and an interest in quantitative biology and machine learning. Please RT!
Excited to share our paper now out in @NatureMicrobiol https://t.co/eIwZzabeI7. We used our CG screening and clinical Mtb genomics method to reveal novel mechanisms of drug resistance and identify a new opportunity to potentially use clarithromycin in TB treatment
My lab is interviewing for a Research Assistant position to work on antibiotic resistance and bacterial pathogenesis. Candidates can have 0-10 years post Bachelor's degree experience. Position promotes training and career growth. If interested, apply to:

Lab on Gingerbread, from Shumin Tan's lab. A complete and compact system to plasmid-transform bacteria, with results in an hour.
If things don't work out, you can always eat your results. Or eat your equipment.

Excited to share that Jonah, @yonaneg, and Nhi’s new paper is up on bioRxiv. We collaborated with the Artem Sokolov @HiTSatHarvard to create rulesets that describe how to construct effective drug combinations for #tuberculosis. 1/6
Kudos to PhD student Yunfei Dai and to a super team-up with @CavaLab_MIMS on our new paper in mBio. Acinetobacter baumannii uses an unexpected enzyme to recycle its peptidoglycan and resist cell wall knocks.

@tiagobeites et al from the lab found that in Mtb, the lack of etfD results in a block in β-oxidation at the step catalyzed by acyl-CoA dehydrogenases rendering the mutant unable to grow on fatty acids and making the long chain fatty acids bactericidal.

1/ Now out in Cell Reports (open access). Our latest contribution to vacuole guard hypothesis. SdhA loss causes Legionella vacuole disintegration and macrophage pyroptosis. SdhA works by sequestering endocytic regulator, the inositol phosphatase OCRL.
