@Reeseforsure The Bible is more than a religious book. It's a foundational piece of history. Leaving it out of education is like teaching American history but never mentioning the Declaration of Independence. And I'm a Christian.
@HeyitsMarkus Sure, let's not talk about the most important set of writings in history in an educational setting. It's like teaching American history but never mentioning the Declaration of Independence.
300-400 hundred years ago someone was saying the same thing about Protestantism using similar arguments and observations. It's the same thing over and over again. In the future the old people in church will be complaining about the style the young people are bringing into church and will say that their time of "rock'n roll" worship was better and more reverent. There is nothing new under the sun. (I've been to multiple rock'n roll church that were scripturally sound)
Islam is inconsistent with a system that has freedom of religion. I am done defending rights for people who will take those same rights away when/if they get in power. Without mutual respect and agreement on basic freedoms no matter how much you disagree with someone else is what makes civilization. If it is your mandate to take away any of those freedoms then you do not get to participate in our civilization and enjoy it's benefits.
The Beast is Rome. As in the historic Roman Empire. Revelations makes a lot more sense when you realize it was written pre-70AD. Jesus said these events would happen soon and within a generation. Revelation speaks of the Apocalypse of Israel/Jews that resulted in the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem. The Roman sacking lasted around 3.5 years and resulted in the death of a great number of Jewish people. The Jews and Judaism has never been the same since. Which was the point because Christ fulfilled the Law and now He is the mediator between God and mankind.
Muslims plundered North Africa. The Colonizers generally did not take Africa by force. Though they did put down uprisings. Ethiopia is an exception because they fought back and did not let the Europeans in. Africans has done a good job massacring themselves: Ethiopia 1984-85, Somalia for decades but specifically in the early 90's, The Rwandan Genocide in 1994, Civil War in South Sudan and I can go on and on. Africans killing each other was not a post Colonizing phenomena. Much of the slave trade was fueled by Africans warring with each other and selling the defeated tribe as slaves. For the most part(not in every case) the Colonial era in Africa brought infrastructure, stability, and modernization to Africans. Disease was the main culprit for the death and displacement of Native Americans. Like the African tribes, Native American tribes went to war and raided neighboring tribes all the time. Some tribes worked with the colonist and settlers and some did not. Australia was not conquered. Algeria was a war, not a systematic killing of people. The French were the worst when it came to colonizing. They did not handle that situation well at all. I won't defend the French on that one.
@BonaldTrosby@philthatremains Musk doesn't have a Trillion dollars. He has stocks and assets currently valued over a trillion dollars. No, it's not the same things. You know nothing.
