Another surgeon asked me to go get his patient’s pre op paperwork despite the fact that 1. I was dressed in scrubs with my name & title, identical to his which only the surgeons wear 2. I was wearing my ID 3. I was speaking to my OWN patient in the pre op area about their surgery
Ok, team. We're at crunch time: 7 days left and this amazing @socialcreaturz kickstarter needs just $10K to get their amazing product over the line for teaching kids about #DiversityandInclusion: https://t.co/wbSVZNEALE
What do you know about the historic 504 Sit In? Do you know how it paved the way for disability rights in the United States? How would you explain this part of history to kids who deserve accessible ways to learn about #diversity, #equity and #inclusion?

I feel like the #LongCovid community has experienced a weekend of intense reflection and self-effacing conversation (because of *that* @NewYorker article) about what it means to be an ally and advocate. Phenomenal content from @itsbodypolitic and others on what it means to (1/n)
I respectfully disagree with this take from @VPrasadMDMPH in the @TheAtlantic this week. A thread.
I want to start by saying that the sentiment is not lost on me and nor are the stakes that are discussed in this piece. We cannot overstate (1/n)

I rarely speak about this, but as a post-doc I experienced extreme abuse from a known abuser and was told I had no options but to put up. A grant of this nature would shielded me from a lot of extreme stress that I am still recovering from. I applaud the @NIH for this initiative
Last month, Social Creatures presented at the Social Security Administration’s National Disability Forum on the mental health impacts of COVID-19. To view our presentation & COVID-recovery recommendations, check out our latest post in #TheCreatureTimes https://t.co/Kpilyx0ywD
🚨 Hot off the press! Pre-print showing that #longcovid patients who engage in a specialized Autonomic Conditioning Therapy experience significant reductions in fatigue. More clinical results to follow, but this is a meaningful start! @GeneticHeartDoc
#science is broken - a thread: since the pandemic began we have been at the forefront of advocacy and science for #LongCovid/#PASC. In Nov 2020, we submitted a novel dataset to @PLOSONE. Since then, they have held our manuscript hostage making us wait months between reviews (1/3)
This year @NYGovCuomo’s administration is proposing cutting this research fund by $2.4M, with a plan to eliminate it entirely by 2024. So, the surcharge that was set up to benefit SCI research WILL REMAIN, just NONE of it will go to SCI research. @AOC do you see this?🧵(3/n)
Dr. Zijian Chen, Medical Director for @MountSinaiNYC's Center for Post-Covid Care, and Dr. David Putrino, Director of Rehabilitation Innovation at @MountSinaiNYC discuss the long-term impacts of #COVID19 on the body via @WSJ: https://t.co/UbJqg64zck @PutrinoLab
Really amazing piece from @WSJ and @rddysum detailing many of the effects of #LongCovid. On Nov 18 we will be presenting our work in detail at the National Disability Forum to make @SocialSecurity aware of the need for long-term rehab for so many #COVID19 survivors
The great thing about having @GetSpectrum is that you don’t need to worry about #HurricaneIsaias knocking out your WiFi - you never had any to begin with! One less thing to worry about, I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Time for @nyuniversity to step up. Unacceptable on every level. In addition, shout out to @SpringerNature for not shutting this down. Cited few references of substance newer than 1995. The journal’s editorial board should resign for letting this racist garbage through.
New York City was the original epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. @hodakotb looks inside one New York hospital that is using “recharge rooms” to help health care workers recover from the stress of battling the virus.
