@BODY_W0_WHORGAN I saw it late at night at the very tail end of an exhausting film festival run so I actually did keep falling asleep, and so the movie for me was car chase gun battle... car chase gun battle... car chase gun battle... PS3 cutscene, credits.
@abcdentminded I played it when it first came out and my assessment was that it's a flawless example of the type of game it's a love letter to. But this was of course many, many, many years ago, when I was young and could still feel things like hope, happiness, sensation in my fingertips etc
@BadPostsLLC@coopercooperco The way I describe it to people is that it’s like watching someone on the other side of soundproof glass screaming, desperately trying to warn you about something.
Me: So what did you do today?
My 4 year old, taciturnly kicking at acorn-like things on the ground: … kicking nuts…
Me: Really, all day? What kind of nuts?
My 4 year old: … deez nuts…
@yashalevine Whilst I might have been turning over a less refined variation of this line of thought for a long time now, I feel like I’ve come across this distillation of it at a very opportune moment. Thank you for it.
@GraceSpelman I love how by about a third of the way through The Leftovers I was acutely aware how much they leaned on the crutch of throwing his stuff behind any scene they wanted to have gravitas, but I didn't care at all because it inarguably worked every single time.
@jammonravager For what it’s worth, which I know isn’t much when you’re injured in this way, I had a severe back injury at 30 that knocked me out of powerlifting at 30. I’m lifting again at 40, and my totals are higher. Not always, but there is sometimes a way back.
@arvofart I hate having albums like this floating around in my memories, where I stumbled ass-backwards into an undiscussed artwork of great personal importance, because it always reminds me that there’s so many others out there I’ll never get to hear.
