Calling a single-machine matching engine a dex, is wild to me as an engineer

If matching, risk, and state transitions are controlled by single operator’s box, you have centralised execution with different custody setups..

From a distributed systems pov - decentralisation is derived from independent operators running replicas of the same state machine and jointly deciding the next state via consensus. As simple as that - you control the execution that happens!
