@FoxNews The American Doctor was in the DRC which is the country west of Uganda. He did not treat any ebola patients in Uganda. There is currently no outbreak on Ugandan territory. Please make this clarification.
For over a decade, we've documented Africa's digital rights landscape through the annual State of Internet Freedom in Africa reports. From the first edition in 2014 investigating policies in East Africa, to the 2025 report on AI and digital democracy.
These reports have shaped policy conversations across the continent, and each one has been launched at FIFAfrica ,the Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa.

Now it's your turn to shape the conversation.

Hon. TAYEBWA THOMAS
Bwana hon @Thomas_Tayebwa, my proposal in the next parliament is that we start a tourism week, like one we did once under @RebeccaKadagaUG.
That week, we shall engage MPs about how tourism can get their voters out of poverty. We shall have private sector members exhibit at parliement, members can have one on one discussions.
We shall identify tourism attractions across the country and educate members of parliament about how those can generate wealth.
We shall discuss the possibility of members of parliement to invest in tourism and business in general.
We also want to make sure many of members of parliement come to kasese during @RwenzoriMarathn just to see how activities like Rwenzori marathon create massive economic opportunities.
My desire to see that each leader is able to atleast employ 50 people from their investment from their earnings. That will help MPs understand how the economy actually works. Some do.
I can’t wait to engage you after the election hon @Thomas_Tayebwa soon.

We are honored to have the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information, Hon. Ourveena Geereesha Topsy-Sonoo, in attendance at the Regional Engagement on the Role of State Actors in Combating Online Harms is happening now in Mauritius🇲🇺.
She is currently providing an in depth overview of the mandate entrusted to her by the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR @achpr_cadhp) under Resolution 519, highlighting the critical intersection between freedom of expression, access to information, and digital rights in Africa.
What does Resolution 519 address?
African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights Resolution 519 focuses on protecting and promoting digital rights for women and girls in Africa.
It recognizes that while digital technologies create opportunities for participation, innovation, and empowerment, they also expose women and girls to disproportionate risks, including:
1⃣Online gender-based violence.
2⃣Technology-facilitated abuse and harassment.
3⃣Non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
4⃣Surveillance and privacy violations.
5⃣Digital exclusion and limited access to connectivity.

I'm in Davos for a week of dialogue on growth, resilience, and innovation at #WEF26.
At @IFC_org, our focus is clear: mobilizing private investment, strengthening skills, and making sure new technologies work for emerging markets. Looking forward to turning ideas into action with global leaders. @wef
The @UgandaEC collects, handles and processes our data and yet is not registered with the @pdpoUG and we hope our personal data is safe. We hope the Commission will comply! #SafeData

Congratulations Prof. Sarah Ssali. @Makerere has many distinguished female scholars but I’ve always wondered why since Prof. Lilian Ekirikubinza no woman had been appointed atleast to a position of DVC. Thank you for correcting this injustice. I hope in our days we see a female Vice Chancellor.
The 2nd East Africa AI Forum & Training in Kampala was a huge success! Three days were empowering legal professionals and diverse stakeholders on crucial aspects of #AIGovernance, #DigitalRights, and #ResponsibleAI. Key topics included AI's legal & regulatory landscape, ethical concerns, its impact on the legal profession, and strategic digital rights litigation. A massive thank you to our partners, @alpeastafrica , @ealawsociety , and @ParadigmHQ , for a truly impactful event! #InternetFreedomAfrica
One of our core objectives is, "research and contribute to the availability of information on the policy, legislative and practice environment affecting ICT in Africa". From the policy front, GN‑GS stakeholders can:
• Push for robust Rights‑Based Legal Reforms with clear offence definitions, judicial oversight & safeguards against misuse.
• Advocate for national adoption of AU ACHPR Res. 630 to drive platform accountability & info‑integrity standards.
• Support strategic litigation in ECOWAS (e.g. Togo, Nigeria, Guinea) to set case law precedent.
• Collaborate with Media Defence, Amnesty Intl & others to challenge repressive ICT laws in courts.
• Engage meaningfully in drafting Africa‑led digital platform monitoring guidelines under ACHPR’s public consultations.
