@MrGeneHarrogate@janecoaston@jessesingal You don't understand the word "segregated" with enough precision to have a conversation. Or, more likely, you're a racist dumbass being willfully obtuse in a bid to seem clever. Either way, I'll bow out of this thread now.
@MrGeneHarrogate@janecoaston@jessesingal I don’t get it, the NBA is not segregated for tall people: Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Kyrie, Mike Conley, Collin Sexton, Jose Alvarado, and on and on.
@ndbisceg@JackReichert@mcuban@grok Are they cheating the insurance company? I read upthread that they're a mechanism for the insurance company to take additional profits from the transaction, since taking profits directly through insurance is politically unpalatable.
@EricLevitz@tobitac The Trojan Horse was the problem, not the violent sacking of the city itself, because he exploited Troy's shared reverence for Athena and their willingness to honor Zeus's law (do unto strangers as you would do unto yourself), i.e. he violated sacred norms to achieve his victory.
@xwanyex@mattyglesias Why won’t he admit that lighting ourselves on fire is worse than drowning ourselves?! I’m not saying we should all sink into a watery grave, but have you noticed how the elites won’t even have a conversation about the upsides of plunging into oblivion to be claimed by the deep?!
@ToddDBaltz@asymmetricinfo Can confirm others' points here, I grew up in a tiny rural community in the 1980s, same expectation I'd go to college, same warnings about values, that's always been there. But in the broader society, trust in academia (and all institutions) since then is MUCH lower.
@Roberto4yz6@Noahpinion This is not the own you think it is. Think about how far Republicans have fallen from men like Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp, John McCain and Mitt Romney to where they are — so low that Dems have the moral high road now. I agree that it’s truly amazing..
