There's a contradiction in the prisoner's reasoning.

A Friday hanging is only necessarily unsurprising (the initial premise that all the logic flows from) if not being hung at all is not an option. If no-hanging is an option, then a Friday hanging can still be surprising. And the conclusion necessarily integrates no-hanging as an option.
