Our International Hip Society paper in this month’s @BoneJointJ shows Durom hip resurfacing failures are usually due to aseptic loosening rather than ARMD. Radiographic cup migration and worsening PROMs predict failure better than metal ion levels - this has implications for how we follow up these patients.

@miriam_khalil13 @FBrzeszczynski Agree with this! Chi2 alone not reliable if any part of the 2x2 table <5. Yates’ correction is still using the Chi2 approximation though.. Other option is Fishers exact test? Doesn’t rely on Chi2 approximation so will give an exact P value regardless of sample size I believe...

The more I think about this the more disappointing it becomes. Easy for JCST as budding trainees will grit their teeth and ‘just do it’, but the time and cost of sitting an additional exam primarily for GP training with no evidence base is disheartening and irrelevant at best..
