The European Space Agency (@ESA) has selected Open Cosmos to build an Optical Constellation for Greece!

We are delighted to announce that we have secured a €60 million contract to deploy an Earth Observation Constellation of seven satellites for the Hellenic Government. This constellation will provide daily high-resolution and very-high-resolution imagery.

The data collected from the constellation will be instrumental in improving public services such as the land registry, combating sea pollution, and increasing agricultural efficiency.

■ TESLA $TSLA ($248.48, -1.86%):
- The Fremont Factory is holding an end of the year delivery event from the 29th to the 31st! DJ Alex J. Mandel is on site in the back of a Cybertruck. Go check it out if you are in the area.

- Cybertruck was lurking in the back of a light show at the Tesla Cypress Delivery Center in Houston, Texas. They have put the lightshow on 3 days in a row for customers taking delivery.

- Giga Berlin is to hold four info events for local residents called “Road Shows.” They are to be information events held in the lobby of the Giga Berlin and provide information "on all topics related to the development of the Gigafactory.”

- Yesterday 339 Megapacks were spotted at the Megafactory in Lathrop, California.

- Even with the IF Metall strike, Tesla Model Y became Sweden's best-selling car model in 2023.

- The first Cybertruck collision took place yesterday with a Toyota Corolla. The police said the Toyota turned veered to the right and struck a dirt embankment, re-entered the roadway, crossed over the double yellow lines, and hit the Cybertruck.

- New email going out; “Engineered to Absorb Impact Before It Reaches the Cabin.” It emphasizes the large crumple zones and a rigid body designed to absorb and distribute the energy from a crash away from the cabin, protecting occupants and the battery.

- Tesla posted they now 300MWh of Megapacks currently operating across 9 Enfinite sites in Alberta, Canada.

FLYOVERS:
Giga Texas: @JoeTegtmeyer, 29th of December, ’23. This will be Joe’s last drone flight of the year. Cybertrucks are moving about the factory. Joe checks out The Boring Company concrete tanks!

Giga Mexico: Still very little work being done. Highway expansion work starts by patching the current road surface.

Giga Texas: Brad Sloan, 28th of December, ’23. Not many Cybertrucks coming out of the factory and that goes for the Model Y too. Brad expects next Tuesday to be turn-and-burn to get those vehicles out the door and to the customers. Leveling continues in the far west side.

Fremont Factory & Lathrop Megafactory: MetGod, 28thof December, ’23. Lots of production with the outbound lot packed full of Teslas. Lathrop is pumping to as we get to see the 339 Megapacks.

■ SPACEX:
“We will return to the moon soon…” said Elon after viewing this pic by John Pisani for Cosmic Perspective (@considercosmos).

- 2023 totals: 91 Falcon 9s, 5 Falcon Heavies, and 2 Starships = 98! This is a 57.5% increase YoY with an average of one launch every 3.8 days. Last night’s double header made history with the fastest turnaround in launch history of 2hrs, 54 mins, and 40 secs!

- First was Launch 97 of Falcon Heavy United States Space Force-52 X-37B. It took place from the historic Space Launch Complex 39A (SLC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle is an experimental test program to demonstrate technologies for a reliable, reusable, unmanned space test platform for the USSF. The two side boosters made another beautiful twin landing at Landing Zone 1 and 2 (LZ-1, LZ-2). The center core booster was expended. Due to the classified nature of the X-375B we did not get to see the faring separation after stage separation. Tons of pics in the thread.

Falcon 9 Starlink 6-36 transits the Moon by Manuel Mazzanti.

- Next was Launch 98 of Falcon 9 Starlink 6-36 from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This was the 12th flight for the booster supporting this mission. It previously launched CRS-24, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13F, OneWeb 1, SES-18 and SES-19, and seven Starlink missions. The booster landed on droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean. Pics in the thread.

- Early this morning Super Heavy Booster 12 was moved to Massey’s Outpost for what should be cryo-testing and

- The first section of the 2nd Starship Tower “Mechazilla-2” and two horizontal tanks have arrived at Brownsville via Kennedy Space Center!

- SpaceX closed Hwy 4 and did a what appeared to be a single engine deorbit burn test with Starship 28.

- Starship 29 moved out of the High Bay and is now the first vehicle to be stationed into Mega Bay 2!

- And to end the year right a couple of hours later, SpaceX lit the 33 raptor engines of Booster 10! Static Fire is complete, and we should see IFT-3 this January! The past two days have been peak SpaceX!

- Elon on building a production line that produces one Starship a week. “The super heavy booster can be used more frequently than the ship, as it returns in about ~6 minutes and can theoretically be ready for re-flight in an hour. The ship needs to complete at least one orbit, but often several to have the ground track line back up with the launch site, so reuse may only be daily. This means that ship production needs to be roughly an order of magnitude higher than booster production. To achieve Mars colonization in roughly three decades, we need ship production to be 100/year, but ideally rising to 300/year.”

- Per Elon, “If all goes well, SpaceX’s total launch mass to orbit will increase ~50% next year (2024), not including Starship.”

Countdown to 150 (0 Falcon 9s, 0 Falcon Heavies, and 0 Starships):

Launch 1! Tuesday, 2nd of January at 6:13 p.m. PT. Falcon 9 Starlink 7-9 will launch from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. 6 Starlink direct-to-cell satellites will be aboard for testing. The other 15 are Starlink v2 Mini satellites. The booster will land on droneship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean.

- Next week Elon will do a company talk for SpaceX followed up with a company talk for Tesla after the 10-K filing. Per Elon, “I will recap the talented team’s amazing accomplishments of 2023 and describe exciting plans for 2024 and beyond! These will be posted publicly to SpaceX and Tesla (on X).” 10-K filing will most likely be around January 30.

- Looks like Elon will end the year adding roughly $100 billion back to his net worth, topping off at $235 billion!
