And they rationalize every betrayal by telling themselves "But the other side is worse," as if merely not being on the left gives one a free pass. The left screams “fascism!” looking at the Church and Her defense of the unborn, natural law (especially concerning sexuality and gender), the responsibility of doctors not to kill their patients, the rights of the family under the principle of subsidiarity, etc.

The right shrieks “Marxism” at Her defense of labor, due process (especially concerning immigrants), the dignity of prisoners, Just War, etc.

What left and right have in common is that both would rather the Church conform to them rather than that they should submit to Catholic teaching.
