Five years ago, I worked at a three-attorney firm in Alaska. We couldn't use the tools BigLaw used. The sales cycles were too long, the implementation was too heavy, and the training was too expensive. So we went without and did everything manually.
Last year, when we launched August, we saw innovative large law firms use our AI to reduce written-off time and take on matters that weren't profitable before. We love working with those customers and continue building for them.
But we also saw growth with solo practitioners and small firms. People who read about us in an article, came to our website, and became customers. That's when we realized we needed to make this even easier.
Today, we're launching something I wish had existed back then: a two-week free trial of August. No sales calls, no demos, no implementation. Just sign up and start working.
We're also releasing August Academy: 100+ video tutorials to close the gap between what lawyers know about AI and what the technology can do today. Links below!
Last month, one of our sales reps needed a custom feature added to a prospect’s demo environment. She messaged Augustus, described what she needed, and 30 minutes later had a working build with video proof. She demoed it that afternoon.
No engineer reviewed the code. No engineer was even pinged.
Joe and Neil wrote how this was possible.
I just generated a 90-page Share Purchase Agreement along with the full closing set in Word and Excel.
It took 30 seconds to generate the SPA, a bill of sale, assignment and assumption, landlord consent, and a checklist tracking every deliverable. All in the same style as a past deal.
Three months ago this same task took 10 hours of back-and-forth prompting.

Christmas has come early for our customers.
Today, we’re kicking off five days of product launches.
We’re starting with Universal Search, now available platform wide.
Many of our customers are surprised by just how many documents they have.
By integrating August directly with your document management system and daily workflows, searching across firm documents and work product becomes as easy as using Google.
Josh Le led product development for Universal Search, working closely with early customers, engineering, and even marketing to shape the next generation of legal search.
I’m excited by our product velocity and what’s to come this week.
When we first met @twbueler from @august__law, his team was spending hours manually testing before every deploy.
Now they never test themselves anymore. Spur runs their tests four times a day, catches bugs before production, and even saved a live demo.
This is what AI-powered QA looks like in action.
See the full story in the comments.
We estimate that Claude Sonnet 4.5 has a 50%-time-horizon of around 1 hr 53 min (95% confidence interval of 50 to 235 minutes) on our agentic multi-step software engineering tasks. This estimate is lower than the current highest time-horizon point estimate of around 2 hr 15 min.
We now spend $500 per day on AI for every engineer.
With 3 engineers, we’ve scaled to law firms on 4 continents.
With 10 engineers, we believe we can scale to $1B.
Every engineer on our team uses Cursor, Claude Code, Cognition, and Spur, running agents in the background all of the time.
It’s like having 10 versions of yourself working in parallel. The game is trusting the right one and shutting down the rest.
We are looking for people who
spend more time managing agents than typing code
know when to pivot
know which critical parts outweigh everything else

Help us build the future of law. @august__law
🎉 Congratulations, @august__law --$7M to Deliver High-Impact Configurable Legal AI to Midsize Firms!
NEA’s @lucktm, @annbordetsky, @MaanasiGarg and @jamesekaplan discuss why we believe the legal industry is primed for AI disruption, and why we believe @RauRutvik, @twbueler, and Joseph Parker are building the platform to reshape mid-market law.

In TIME, we argue that you’re on track to lose your job to AI. The impacts of this could be devastating. But as a society, we can build towards a better path.
We're #hiring at Vecflow for our Founding Product Engineer in NYC! 🚀
We’re building AGI for law. Our workflows are already outperforming lawyers, and we’ve 4x’d revenue growth in 4 months.
DM if interested!
We're excited to share that @spurtest_ has raised $4.5M, led by @firstround to allow teams to own high quality testing
We've partnered with some of the most customer centric companies like @wander@ycombinator@LivingSpaces@flynorse to deliver the best user experiences
We had the chance to sit down with @twbueler and Joe, the leaders behind VecFlow who build the AI copilot, Oliver. They share their perspective on DeepSeek, developing with agents, and the future of legal AI:
