@adsfig5@leap_dog The Renters Rights Act will probably put downward pressure on such rises, but rises would be inevitable.
All that said, if it makes managing bills simpler for tenants, and collecting tax easier for councils, itβs probably a net win?
@DirteeerMartini@adsfig5 That depends on the State, as election administration is a largely devolved matter. Many try to simplify things by getting the dates of most elections to align with federal calendar to avoid election fatigue. However this can mean that temporary appointments last months.
@adsfig5@DirteeerMartini Interestingly, the power of governors to make temporary appointments to the Senate is not entirely discretionary, as the 17th amendment allows States to leave vacancies unfilled until a special election is called.
@adsfig5@DirteeerMartini Itβs also a practical measure. The reduced size of the senate means that vacancies have outsized impact, especially in marginal votes and helps to preserve the principle of equal representation at the heart of the federal composition of the Senate.
@TrueSlazac As a former Swiss resident this is a very welcome reminder of my old home. Despite the joviality of these photos, very few people knew who from the Federal Council was President!
@yuanyi_z I prefer the old one, as it has more spacial balance between the arms at the centre and the supporters either side. Plus the garter motto is more legible, however Iβve come around on the Tudor crown as the more aesthetic choice
6 days to go! It was great to be out campaigning for the brilliant @ShamaTatler in Chingford and Woodford Green this evening.
Change is possible if we vote for it. Vote Labour on Thursday 4 July for a Labour government and Keir Starmer as our Prime Minister.
