The speed of Hurricane Polo’s intensification is almost unfathomable.

Only 24 hours ago, this was only tropical storm. Now, Polo is a Category 5 hurricane after undergoing an extraordinary burst of rapid intensification.

Polo's pressure has plummeted, winds have increased dramatically, and satellite imagery has become increasingly impressive overnight. In fact, the pressure being 920mb makes this the strongest hurricane in 11 years for the Eastern Pacific.

It is hard to overstate how quickly this happened. Polo has gone from a developing hurricane to the strongest storm on Earth right now in an incredibly short amount of time.

This is one of those storms where you wake up and almost cannot believe how much it changed overnight.

BREAKING: The EF-5 drought is officially over.

The National Weather Service has upgraded the June 20, 2025 Enderlin, North Dakota tornado to EF-5, the first confirmed since 2013’s Moore, OK event.

Wind speeds exceeded 210 mph, tossing loaded grain hoppers and even a tanker car 475 ft, completely scouring a farmstead and debarking trees across a mile-wide swath.
