She made it!
Kelsey Pfendler just shattered records by completing her solo, unsupported row from Monterey, California to Honolulu, Hawaii — a grueling ~2,400-mile journey across the Pacific.
In just 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes, the 32-year-old became:
-The fastest person ever (beating the men's record by ~7-9 days)
-The fastest woman (crushing the previous record by over 40 days)
-The first American woman to do it solo
-The youngest woman to achieve the feat.
She’s one of only a handful of people to conquer this epic mid-Pacific row. What an incredible achievement! 🇺🇸🚣♀️
RE: Respect for America’s Military
I want to say something as a veteran. I know it’s going to chap some people’s hides. I don’t care.
REFLEXIVE, COMPLETE, UNQUESTIONING RESPECT FOR EVERYONE WHO EVER SERVED IS WRONG.
I believe the “thank you for your service” mentality has gone too far. I know it exists for good reasons, mostly to counteract the horrific way returning Vietnam veterans were treated. I know that. And I respect the honorable intentions of those who say that saying to me, I do.
But here is the thing: there are plenty of veterans and serving officers/enlisted who are complete and total moral scumbags. And many of them get stellar efficiency reports and get promoted because while they are morally bankrupt human beings, they often perform well in their duties.
America’s military is a cross-section of America itself, and we all know high-achieving individuals whom we would not trust to take out our garbage.
The military is the same way.
There are even brave, highly-decorated combat veterans who performed selflessly and magnificently under fire who are not personally trustworthy in day-to-day matters or non-combat interpersonal relations.
There are even officers who earned many stars who are exceptionally contemptible people. Google “Courtney Massengale” (yes, a fictional character I know, but quite illustrative nonetheless). Google “James Grazioplene.”
(This is not about Chris Donahue BTW—I don’t know the man and by all accounts I have seen thus far he is a fine officer and human being. I am talking more about a generalized set of principles as to how Americans view all veterans (me included), particularly those who earn stars.)
Look, I think we should all respect veterans and serving military members for their service. The military life is hard, and they sacrifice much in defense of the rest of us. Respect there is earned and deserved.
But that respect should not extend to every aspect of a veteran’s life and character. We’re not saints. We’re people. And we should be judged as a total person, not just based on the character of our service.
I guess what I’m saying is this: just because someone earned honor in the military does not mean he or she is honorable in every imaginable way.
I wish more civilians understood this.
@japan_nobunaga Please, honorable brother, don’t cease your inspiring posts. There are always mean spirited, jealous cretins who strive to dispirit successful artists. You float above them like clouds above puddles of mud. “Illegitimi non carborndum!” (Don’t let the bastards grind you down).
There is a cadre of retired generals and admirals who despise the legal, Constitutional authority of elected civilian leadership.
Which means they actually despise the Constitutional will of the American people.
They think they know better than the People and will do everything in their power to undermine and destroy the choices of the People.
This is not patriotism. This is extra-Constitutional credentialist elitism.
That is an ilk alright. The worst kind of ilk.
Before any investigation, Pelosi and her staff were already plotting my removal.
On Jan 6, Pelosi admitted on camera that she was responsible for the security failures at the Capitol. Yet, within 24-hours, she publicly blamed me for Jan 6, demanded my resignation, and claimed I “hadn’t even called.” I spoke with her three times that day.
What she doesn’t say: that it was her Sergeant at Arms who repeatedly denied and delayed my legally required requests for National Guard support before and during the attack — denying my Jan 3 request and then blocking or stalling another half-dozen urgent pleas on Jan 6, until finally authorizing me at 2:09 p.m., more than an hour after my first request. And McConnell’s Sergeant at Arms wouldn’t override Pelosi’s.
Eleven months later, Congress changed the law to let the Capitol Police Chief request the National Guard directly, without Capitol Police Board approval. If I was responsible, why did Congress have to change the law? And if I wasn’t, why were Pelosi and her staff so determined to remove me before any real investigation even began? Several USCP whistleblowers and I have paid a significant price for others’ failures.
Why won’t @SpeakerJohnson address this?

As Brits, we thought we understood fried chicken.
Then our American friends at Hattie B’s invited us down in Nashville… and we quickly realised we didn’t. 😅
Crispy Nashville hot chicken, seasoned fries, mac & cheese, slaw, bacon & cheese grits, and portions that seemed to get bigger every time another tray landed on the table. 🍗🔥
They even kept us fuelled with local drinks, including a Hattie B’s x TailGate Brewing “Drinking Buddy” Golden Ale for me and a Ponyboy bourbon & strawberry soda for the wife. 🍻🥤
Great food, great atmosphere, and proper Southern hospitality from the moment we walked in.
10/10 experience. If you’re visiting Nashville, put this place on your list.

The World Cup has turned America into a discovery channel for the rest of the world.
And they are not handling it well.
In the best possible way.
Here is what they are discovering:
Free public restrooms. Europeans pay every time.
Free water at every restaurant. Just appears.
Free refills. Coffee. Sodas. Iced tea. Unlimited.
Free chips and salsa before you even order.
Free warm bread with dinner.
Ice in drinks like civilized people.
Air conditioning everywhere. Not a moral debate. A fact.
Parking lots attached to the actual place you are going.
Drive throughs where the food comes to the car while you sit in it.
Ranch dressing by the gallon.
Tex-Mex that cannot be explained only experienced.
Dental care that actually works.
Buccee’s. There are no words for Buccee’s.
Then they found the grocery stores.
Five of them within one mile.
Each one the size of an aircraft hangar.
Burgers. Steaks. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled pork. Lamb. Veal. Every cut of every animal ever domesticated by human civilization available in one refrigerated aisle at ten in the morning on a Tuesday.
The Germans stood in the meat section for forty five minutes.
In silence.
Processing.
They finally understand why we do not have trains.
We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive.
Parking lots the size of small European countries.
Airports in every city worth visiting.
Why would we need trains.
The Germans are taking ranch home by the bottle.
The Dutch found queso and briefly lost the ability to speak.
The Japanese are photographing HEB like it is the Louvre.
The Czechs are weeping in West, Texas.
Welcome to America!
The greatest country on earth.
Dear Followers,
The review and publishing process will take longer than expected. August was our goal. The manuscript is at USSOCOM for review. It will then go to the Defense Office of Prepublication Security Review. Once approved, I'm told that it takes about ten more weeks to go through the publishing process for release. I will post any updates. Thank you for your patience.
