I support HB 281, which extends Medicaid coverage for pregnant women and their partners from 12 to 24 months. NASW values service and helping those in need, including affordable and reliable healthcare! #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@CarolMc012 Reproductive rights are human rights that should be guaranteed for all genders and sexual orientations. If proper abortions are not provided, many women will take dangerous measures themselves.
@jacqf13 I support SB 130 because everyone should have the right to express their authentic and true selves! It is a social worker's duty to advocate for justice in regards to all cultural identities
I support HB 276, which expands Medicaid eligibility to include pregnant women and new mothers up to 12 months postpartum, regardless of citizenship or national origin. NASW values the dignity and worth of all people as well as equal healthcare services! #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@TerryStasuik Many people claim racism no longer exists when there is clear injustice towards women of color in our healthcare system! I support HB 233 because all women and their families deserve equal and safe services.
@HannahWestWKUSW This is so important! I am completing a GRA project right now about teaching antiracism in universities. The CSWE has now made it mandatory to teach antiracism in social work curriculum in the 2022 EPAS! Hopefully faculty members are given proper training to teach this!
@CB70050440 This is so important because as people age, they have a more difficult time going out to get groceries and cooking elaborate meals; therefore, they end up settling for quick, easy, unhealthy options.
@jacqf13 Yes! People need to look at the bigger picture, which is ensuring the care of vulnerable people who make up about 20% of our population! They matter too!
The elderly population has incomes below 200% of the poverty level and poor health status. The Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program is working to improve the healthcare system and financial wellbeing of the elderly. NASW supports equal services for all! #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@Ltodd20 I love these pictures and the provided suicide and crisis lifeline! It is disappointing that those with mental illness have been viewed as outcasts rather than vulnerable humans who need assistance. Mental health is just as important as physical health!
@MarissaR464 I support the expansion of Medicaid! I currently use it, but it does not cover many services at all. It would help a large portion of our society if more services were included!
It is difficult to find private insurances that will cover mental health treatments. Social workers are fighting for the expansion of Medicaid to include these services. The NASW believes in providing equal healthcare services for all! #wkusocialworkpolicy
@KennRussell Healthcare is a human right, and the price of appointments and medications has become impossible to manage. Many people (including my family) avoiding seeking help for mental and physical issues due to the cost. This has become unsafe and unfair.
@caseylawson1921 Fentanyl has become such a deadly monster even within Bowling Green. It is almost essential now to have tools available to test for fentanyl use, and it would be helpful for families to ensure that their children have not been using it.
One in 10 Americans do not have health insurance, and over half of adults between ages 18 to 64 will experience some form of medical financial hardships. Social work encourages states to expand their Affordable Care Act to ensure equal access to healthcare. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@beautiful_bryy It is bizarre that PPD is not spoken about more often, considering almost 20% of women struggle with it. If a mother is not healthy, she will not be able to fully provide for her children. These women deserve to know that they are not alone, and services are out there!
@Kenziebethboil5@raymerforKY I have also been supporting HB 41. Student toolkits are necessary for foster children because of such high mobility. They miss out on chunks of the curriculum while struggling emotionally. Kids spend most of their time in school, so it is vital that schools are fair and just!
I have been following House Bill 41, an ACT relating to a foster care student toolkit. NASW policy statements say that public education must include alternative routes to becoming educated without isolating underserved youth. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
