Reflections on My 65th Birthday

Today, July 19, 2026, marks my 65th birthday. At sixty-five, birthdays should naturally become moments of deep reflection - moments to look back with gratitude to Almighty God for His abundant graces, examine the journey so far, and ask how the remaining years can be devoted more meaningfully to the service of God and humanity.

Perhaps in countries where basic human needs have largely been met, where institutions function effectively, and where citizens enjoy a greater measure of security and dignity, such attainments may rightly call for elaborate celebrations. In Nigeria, however, our reality compels a different kind of reflection.

Our nation is blessed with enormous human and natural resources, yet millions of our people continue to struggle with challenges that demand our collective attention. We cannot afford to celebrate ourselves excessively while many around us are burdened by poverty, ill health, unemployment, and limited opportunities. Rather, occasions such as this should remind us of our responsibility to contribute towards building a nation where future generations can genuinely celebrate.

This is why I have always seen birthdays not merely as occasions for personal celebration, but as opportunities for sober reflection, thanksgiving, and a renewed commitment to service.

As I reflected today, I came to a simple conclusion: the greatest celebration of life is not what we receive from others, but the lives we can touch positively.

This conviction has guided my approach throughout my years in business, in the corporate world, and as Governor of Anambra State. In each of these roles, I have tried to see every privilege not as a personal entitlement but as an opportunity to improve the lives of others.

Whenever people or institutions sought to celebrate me with expensive gifts or elaborate ceremonies, I encouraged them instead to redirect those resources towards projects that would have a lasting impact. Over the years, this philosophy has resulted in the building of schools, hostel blocks, support to schools, and other facilities that continue to benefit the less privileged. I have always believed that resources meant for personal comfort can often be transformed into instruments of hope for many.

The greatest honour anyone can receive is not found in gifts, ceremonies, or public admiration, but in knowing that one’s life has contributed, however modestly, to making another person’s life better.

Today, therefore, I give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of life and for bringing me to this important milestone of 65 years. I began the day with a Mass of Thanksgiving in Onitsha, thanking God for His grace, protection, guidance, and the countless blessings He has bestowed upon me over the years.

After the Mass, I proceeded to St. Raphael’s Hospital, Umueri, a small rural hospital in Anambra East Local Government Area. In furtherance of my belief that birthdays should be occasions for service rather than self-indulgence, I donated the sum of ₦10 million to support the hospital’s work of providing quality healthcare to the people.

As I was conducted around the hospital and saw patients in their moments of vulnerability, I was reminded again of our shared humanity. Some of those receiving care may not even have the financial means to settle their hospital bills, yet they deserve compassion, dignity, and access to quality healthcare. Their condition was a reminder that leadership, in its truest form, is about caring for people, especially those who cannot repay our kindness.

Hospitals and schools remain two of the greatest investments any society can make. A hospital preserves life; a school shapes the future. Supporting both is, therefore, not just an act of charity - it is an investment in humanity and in the future of our nation.

His father has questions to answer.

1. Peter Obi rejected #700m monthly pension as Ex Governor.
2. Peter Obi rejected lands given to Ex Governors as part of their entitlements.

3. Peter Obi rejected #500m House & Furniture Allowance as Chairman of Security & Exchange Commission, SEC, Abuja 2015.

4. Peter Obi rejected $1m dollars as prize money for being the First & Best Governor to achieve the 2020 Millennium Development Goals, MDGs.

5. Peter Obi rejected the offer of an Oil Well, one of the reasons Nigerian Politicians k!ll to attain Abuja Status.

6. Peter Obi rejected the allocation of millions of naira for the set up of office of the First Lady. Insisting that his wife was not an elected official.

7. Peter Obi rejected the proposal to share the State annual budget on percentage with the State House of Assembly leading to his first unlawful impeachment.

8. Peter Obi handed over about #75bn in cash & assets after 8yrs as Governor, rejecting to convert it to personal use like other Governors did.

This man has conquered man's most natural, intense & vicious appetite...Greed.

I want someone to prove just one of these statements to be false.

My name is Myam Emmanuel, known as EMMIWUKS, a Nigerian son on a bicycle journey from Africa to America.
Today is Day 151, and I am writing this from Senegal, the land that raised one of Africa’s most inspiring stories: AKON.

I am a Pan-African dreamer carrying a mission bigger than myself. This journey is for the orphans, the IDPs, and the forgotten children of Africa. The ones who sleep hungry. The ones who feel invisible. The ones who believe nobody is fighting for them.
For those without shoes, I ride barefoot.

He moved from nothing to becoming a global voice, proving that a boy from Senegal can rise high enough to light up cities, build futures, and inspire millions.

What inspires me the most is not his fame,
but the fact that he never forgot home.

That is exactly what my journey stands for.

Just like Akon. I come from a place where dreams look impossible. Just like Akon, I was doubted, laughed at, and underestimated.
But just like him, I refused to stop.

So when I finally meet AKON, it won’t just be a handshake. I want to share my story, my mission, and talk about how we can shine more light on Africa’s forgotten children.
Because sometimes one brother believing in another can change a whole continent.

This is Bishop Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi.

On February 14th, 2024, Bishop Anagbe appeared before the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, testifying about the genocidal persecution of Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, particularly Benue State. He was invited again on March 12, 2025 during which the good Bishop, accompanied by reverend father Remigius Ihyula, detailed systematic massacres by ethnic Fulani jihadists against Christian farming communities, including kidnappings, church burnings, and land seizures.

According to the clergy, the number of Christians documented to have been killed by the Fulani Jihadists is over 1000 within months with over 160 Churches destroyed In the past decade and large swaths of land belonging to the Christian victims seized and currently occupied by the jihadists with no commensurate action from the govt. Bishop Anagbe told the US parliamentarians that the Nigerian govt is engaging in a “conspiracy of silence” aimed at enabling an “Islamic agenda” to Islamize the region.   
 
After Testimony, Bishop Anagbe and Father Ihyula received multiple death threats allegedly from Nigerian government sources and Islamist groups.

In April 2025, foreign embassies (including the U.S.) warned of potential arrest upon his return to Nigeria.      The Nigerian Foreign Ministry denied involvement
but promised investigations.

On May 24–26, 2025: Fulani Jihadists attacked Bishop Anagbe’s home village - Aondona - killing not less than 42 people (some sources placed the casualty figure at over 70) and displacing hundreds. This was described by many as reprisal for his testimony at the US Congress
      
On June 1–13, 2025, further coordinated attacks by ethnic Fulani Jihadists in Gwer West and Apa counties including Yelwata (near Makurdi) left over 300 men, women and children butchered with most of the victims burnt alive. This was even as the communities alerted the security agencies of the impending attacks weeks before it happened. Many of you would remember that the Bola Tinubu govt and her agents actually tried to play down the Yelwata massacre until activist Verydarkblackman went to the venue to bring the gory images of the victims to social media.

During the last Lent/Holy Week, over 92 Christians were massacred in the same Benue.

Please note that the govt headed by a muslim president and a muslim vice president has not prosecuted any known Fulani jihadist for any of these genocidal attacks. Most shocking is the fact that after similar attacks in Jos which left over 271 Christians dead, the leader of the Fulani jihadists called a Press Conference where he was shown in a video shared by Tvcnewsng, a television station owned by @officialABAT, giving conditions that must be met before they stop killing innocent people. One of the conditions he gave was the removal of a senior military commander in charge of keeping peace in Plateau. (I will share the video in the comment section ) As I type, that particular commander is no longer in his position. Your govt yielded to the demand of the jihadist.

I challenge anyone to fact-check everything I have written here.

THERE IS CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE GOING ON IN NIGERIA and the govt is complicit. The whataboutism of some Muslims being affected does not vitiate this fact because even those muslim victims were killed by fellow Muslims and there is no record of a any Muslim community being targeted the way it has been happening in southern kaduna, Benue and other parts of the Middle Belt

Tonight, I met a My Nigerian brother here in Guinea. His name is Olugbenga Oshimowo, 45 years old, from Lagos State.

He left Nigeria in 2021 with the dream of finding a better life, but unfortunately got stranded in Mali. He was arrested, detained, and in the process, he lost everything. Now he is stuck in Guinea with no means to return home.

Gbenga sleeps around the Airport Roundabout here in Conakry, because he has nowhere else to go.

According to him, he has family in the USA, a sister named Arinola Gudonu and a cousin Moronike Ayodele, but he has lost contact and has no way to reach them.

When I asked him if he would like to return to Nigeria, his answer was “Yes.

The best way I can help is to share his story with the world, believing that through the power of humanity, compassion, and connection, someone out there can step in to help this brother find his way back home.
