@AshValeCommuter@kirkkorner@NicDakin55 I'd say so.
Also the JP in this instance obviously failed to correctly deal with an equivocal guilty plea. It happens all the time.
@thealexbear@jrsb81 But being attentive is exactly the point I'm trying to make.
If someone doesn't feel comfortable overtaking slower vehicles (for reasons, possibly enforcement) - they'll just follow along, and given a long enough distance, zone out and switch off.
It's a bit of a reach, I know.
@thealexbear@jrsb81 It's the speed cameras.
Why drive at a speed that is safe but questionable with regards to its legality when you don't know whether or not there's a camera van around the corner?
(This unironically is what safety camera van operators want)
@WoyWoyPom @Das_Pig@EalingCouncil@BetterEaling@SafeUxbridgeRd@TfL How far are we going to take that argument? Shall we stop walking past vehicles that are stuck in traffic jams, because of the risk of vehicles mounting the kerb?
@Das_Pig was cycling where no vehicle is authorised to encroach upon - essentially the same as mounting a kerb
@daisyelfling I'd be a liar if I said that I wasn't daunted by clutches and gears (and steering!) when I first started learning to drive.
I don't want to say "you'll get used to it" but I'd say it's worth at least giving it a go - and letting your instructor know that is your biggest worry.
@daisyelfling Learn with a manual, and then go buy an automatic car after passing your test.
It may seem like it's harder, but it may even lead to cheaper insurance premiums in the future.
@BirgitC@JimJamJames3@jackfifield It's really simple. If you can't go to court, you literally give £10 to a solicitor and the solicitor gets you to read off a generic statement off of a bit of paper.
@jackfifield If it's s.5(3)(a) then I'd get her to seek advice on it.
Sure, they'll probably be someone who wants to conflate "intends" with "accidentally" but I would suggest that the prosecution was for an offence she didn't commit.
Please tell me she didn't plead guilty.
@AshValeCommuter@jackfifield Just wait until you hear what Driving Awareness Courses are.
Legislation had to be changed to make them legal, and that only happened a couple of years ago 🤣
@Tantrumfly @PetulantWench @Tesco The obvious solution to this problem is to find a Tesco that has this policy, go to the customer services desk, ask and then fail to get reasonable assistance and then take Tesco to court.
They would immediately fold.
@theJeremyVine@theJeremyVine, he is very clearly in his lane. Whilst the fisheye lens provides poor perspective of lanes here, I'd say the positioning of your bike was poor.
@2wheelsgoodBrum Are you aware of what the Highway Code actually is?
If not, specifically, it's a rewritten collection of various pieces of legislation, mostly the RTA 1988 and RTRA 1984.
There is nothing in any primary legislation that sets a minimum gap of 1.5m. It's a guide.
