Today, we have written to @EalingCouncil to strongly oppose its plans for cycle lanes on the Ealing Hospital section of the Uxbridge Road.
Why?
Because they’re dangerous and don’t follow @TfL and DfT guidance.
@Paulrobinson_94 @Das_Pig@EalingCouncil@BetterEaling@TfL The bus driver and cyclist are using the lanes as intended.
It's just they've been badly designed, leading to conflict.
Councils should not be installing these painted lanes they offer no protection.
@Das_Pig@SheepridgeLee@EalingCouncil@BetterEaling@TfL These painted lanes are so bad that Chris Boardman, now head of Active of Travel England, has described them a "murder lanes" and called for them to be banned.
@WoyWoyPom@Das_Pig@EalingCouncil@BetterEaling@TfL The painted lane has been designed to be used in this way. It's bad for buses; potentially fatal for cyclists.
It's why we're campaigning for @TfL and @EalingCouncil to redesign the Uxbridge Road, making it safe vulnerable road users.
@maskcempt@Das_Pig@EalingCouncil@BetterEaling@TfL The original post wasn't critical of the bus driver. It was critical of the poor cycling infrastructure put in place by @EalingCouncil. Too many cycle lanes are badly designed, leading to potential conflict.
@bryn14181@CitizenUddin@EalingCouncil The waste should be removed via the rear of the property and taken to the truck. There was no need to illegally block the highway.
"Stopping up" the highway in this manner requires a temporary permit. This is a major crossing on one of west London's major road. @AndyCoxDCS
