🎙️Tune in to Episode 238 of #TheGeneticsPodcast 🚀
This week, we’re joined by Dr. Bin Yu, Chancellor's Distinguished Professor at UC Berkeley. Listen in to hear why linear models may not tell the whole story in genetics, how a stability-driven random forest approach revealed novel epistatic interactions in cardiomyopathy, and why predictability, computability, and stability should guide how we do data science in biology.

At the 2026 #WLS#AI Science Forum, Professor Michael I. Jordan revealed a fundamental flaw in foundation models: they are masters of the past but unreliable at the boundaries of discovery. Using AlphaFold's failure to predict protein quantum fluctuations as a case study, Jordan demonstrated how AI can produce "convincingly narrow" but factually incorrect confidence intervals.
To solve this, he introduces Prediction-Powered Inference (PPI), a new statistical framework designed to ground AI predictions in empirical truth, ensuring that the next generation of automated science remains "honest".
