The FT estimates over £40bn, citing government and industry sources and the recent experience at Hinkley C is relevant (£46 billion). So why does our our government repeat the hideously inaccurate 5 year old estimate of £20bn?

£20 billion is for the birds... it's not even adjusted for inflation (=25bn). Nuclear energy is the most expensive energy we've ever had...

Pushing this false number amounts to a deceit, or a conceit – if the govt actually believes it themselves. Either way the real cost is double at least.
