I thank Japan for its contribution to the PURL initiative. Since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Japan has been helping Ukraine and our people a lot. And we deeply appreciate all the support we have received.
I also thank all partners who continue to contribute to PURL. This year, the program has been supported by Norway, the Netherlands, Canada, Bulgaria, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Iceland. Some of the contributions were not publicly disclosed. The total amount of contributions since the beginning of the year has reached around $1.5 billion. And altogether, 28 countries have participated in PURL up until this point. I thank all partners who are helping!
NASA is aware of the anomaly that occurred tonight at Launch Complex 36 involving Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Spaceflight is unforgiving, and developing new heavy-lift launch capability is extraordinarily difficult. We will work with our partners to support a thorough investigation of this anomaly, assess near-term mission impacts, and get back to launching rockets.
We will provide information on any impacts to the Artemis and Moon Base programs as it becomes available.
Here's our video of the explosion at Launch Complex 36. It happened about 9 pm ET (0100 UTC) as Blue Origin was beginning a static fire test of its New Glenn rocket.
