It is well known that #moisture distribution in #carbonated #concrete plays a key role in steel #corrosion. In this study, water uptake in carbonated mortar was monitored over time by #neutron imaging, coupled with real time measurements of steel #potential.

Can the inspection of cantilever retaining walls be simplified? Last week Lukas Bircher and Patrick Pfändler had the opportunity to test their newly developed #inspection method for retaining walls in a first #field trial. Loads of experience, first results look promising.

@Durability_ETH @RILEM1947 We had 17 meetings, most of them in Europe, a few in North America, and some online meetings. I remember all these meetings as gatherings in a great atmosphere that facilitated many inspiring scientific discussions. Below a picture of our first meeting in Oslo @StatensVegvesen
