I'm experienced at and passionate about growing food & sharing the miracles of mother nature & homegrown nutrition. I pick & eat backyard-fresh local veggies.
Need volunteer hours? Want to learn about gardening, while doing a Good thing for butterflies? It’s that time! Come volunteer with us at the Val Fleming Butterfly Garden (5020 Serena Drive, Beamsville) this Saturday, Aug 8. Help us weed, deadhead and manage the garden.
I think I BLUE it! On my way on the #GOTrain (SO much easier than driving) to the #TorontoHomeShow at the CNE grounds. I’ll be answering questions at the Master Gardeners table and giving a presentation at 2 PM on blue flowers, fruit, and foliage on the main stage! Come say hi!
Thursday! Landscape Ontario is hosting a full day (w lunch!) presentation/design session on creating a ‘layered landscape’ for biodiversity, by…me: plants, design, more and work together, helping each of you design a landscape – hands-on! Register here!

A little bit on staking trees … search #OntarioLandscapeTreePlantingGuide to learn more, because we do it wrong all the time! This is especially important for professionals who THINK they’re doing it right, and municipalities who set the standards.
Monday, Sept 23, I’m presenting @#MidlandGardenClub: ‘Texture Workhorses: #GrassesAndSedges’ – 1 of my favourite, & most impactful presentations, as relates to garden design.
North Simcoe Sports & Rec Centre (527 Len Self Boulevard Midland) - Askennonia Room. Meeting @ 6:45
Hey friends! For those of you who're too far to make it to my presentations, through HalfMoon Education Inc., I'm offering a two hour presentation on Xeriscaping - drought-tolerant gardening. Hope you can make it!

Hey folks! If you’re going to be in the Komoka area, I’m giving a speech on August 10. There’s also a lovely pollinator garden nearby that I’m going to be checking out – “Ethan‘s Garden“.

Normally, this would be a project for mid to late August, but this has also been a perfect year for fungal infections. I think it might be prudent to cut Bearded Iris back to a 6 inch fan presently and clean up all the dead leaves to avoid #IrisLeafSpot.
Finally! I’ve created a video I’m happy with on #RosePruning! Now is the time. Rose pruning from other pruning. I have a whole pruning PLAYLIST now. Think you know what you’re doing? Trust me. There’s always more to learn!

#HaltonGardenSupplies is a new independent garden center in Acton! It’s super important to patronize these local garden centers. We need them! They offer variety and knowledge!

Attending my first #DigSafe breakfast with the @ORCGA (Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance - all the folks who want you to call before you dig) rep’ing @green_for_life Horticultural Trades Association. Beautiful drive in! Excited for this morning‘s speakers!
Thx to @NikiJabbour, I knew that it was time to harvest the potatoes! The tops died off. From 3 buckets we got all these potatoes! 😁with the harvest! We put 4” of compost in the bottom, then some of last year’s small potatoes, & another 4” compost, topping it up all summer!
I spent an hour wandering the @HfxPublicGarden today and all I can say is WOW! Everything looks fabulous - including the dahlias. We're so lucky to have such a spectacular garden in the heart of the city. And for the inside scoop, join one of the free daily garden tours.
