๐จ URGENT: Stop the Puberty Blocker Trial on Children ๐จ
A parliamentary petition has forced a debate on a proposed clinical trial using puberty blockers on children. This is not routine healthcare. It is an experiment being justified only because the evidence of safety and benefit is uncertain.
Children who are distressed deserve protection and care, not to be used to resolve medical and political controversy. The Cass Review made clear that the evidence is weak. Proceeding anyway crosses a serious moral line.
Once this trial begins, the damage cannot be undone.
๐ข Email your MP NOW and demand they oppose the trial before it starts.
Tell them this is a safeguarding issue, not an ideological one.
Tell them their stance will be remembered.

Subject: This Trial Must Not Proceed: Parliamentary Accountability and Child Safeguarding
Dear [MPโs Name],
I am writing as a constituent to state my unequivocal opposition to the proposed clinical trial involving puberty blockers for children.
This trial should not be allowed to begin.
At moments like this, Parliament is not simply managing a policy question. It is making a moral decision. How MPs respond will shape public trust for years to come. Many of us are watching closely to see whether safeguarding children is treated as a genuine priority or quietly subordinated to institutional, political, or ideological pressures.
The Cass Review made clear that the evidence base for puberty blockers in this context is weak and uncertain. Proceeding with a clinical trial is not a neutral or cautious response to that uncertainty. It actively places vulnerable children in harmโs way in order to resolve it. Children cannot provide fully informed consent to interventions with potentially lifelong consequences, and it is deeply troubling that they are being asked to do so.
No other area of paediatric medicine would accept this level of risk under such contested evidence. The ethical threshold should be higher, not lower, when children are involved.
As my elected representative, I expect you to take a clear and principled position:
Oppose the commencement of this trial
Press the Government to prioritise non-medical, therapeutic and psychological support
Publicly affirm that child safeguarding must come before ideology, expediency, or reputation management
This is one of those moments that will be looked back on. Constituents will remember who spoke up, who stayed silent, and who chose caution and care over risk.
I would appreciate a clear response setting out your position on this matter.
Yours sincerely,

Last week and the week before, the Lords debated the assisted suicide bill at Second Reading. It was hugely encouraging that peers spoke against the Bill by a ratio of more than two to one.
It was clear that all the letters and emails they have received has really been making a difference. Thank you so much to everyone who was been writing to members of the House of Lords on this issue. The assisted suicide bill will now move to the Committee stage, so do keep writing!
However, there is another area that itโs vital we be contacting Lords about.
Abortion up to birth - In the same week in June that MPs voted for assisted suicide, they also approved an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill, that would legalise self-induced abortions up to birth.
The Bill comes up for its Second Reading debate on 16th October. The best opportunities to make changes are likely to come at Committee stage. We donโt have an exact date for that yet, but we know that the abortion clause will be debated on the last day of Committee.

MPs and Peers return to Parliament from summer recess on Monday.
The Second Reading of the Leadbeater assisted suicide Bill in the House of Lords will then take place on Friday 12 September.
Writing directly to Lords is the most effective way of lobbying them. They donโt get the same level of correspondence as MPs, so your letters will not be fighting for attention.

Subject: Highfield House Hotel โ Suspected Breach of Planning Use Class (C1)
Dear Southampton City Council Planning Department,
I am writing as a concerned local resident regarding the current operation of Highfield House Hotel.
It has come to my attention that the property, designated under Use Class C1 (hotel use), may be operating outside its approved use. Specifically, it appears that the premises are being utilized to provide longer-term accommodation, including for migrants, which may not align with the intended hotel use.
A recent High Court ruling involving the Bell Hotel in Epping, Essex, underscores the importance of adhering to designated use classes. In that case, Epping Forest District Council successfully obtained an injunction to prevent the hotel from housing asylum seekers, arguing that the use constituted a material change of use without the necessary planning permission. The court agreed, granting a temporary injunction and highlighting the potential for increased community tensions and safety concerns associated with such unapproved uses.
Given this precedent, I respectfully request that the Planning Department investigate whether Highfield House Hotel is operating within its designated Use Class C1. If the current use deviates from this classification, it may constitute a breach of planning regulations, warranting appropriate enforcement action.
Please confirm receipt of this email and advise on the next steps the Council will be taking in reviewing this matter.
Yours sincerely,

Subject: Digital ID Concerns โ Call for Non-Repealable Safeguards or Full Opposition
Dear [MPโs Name],
I am am a concerned constituent writing to raise serious concerns about the governmentโs consideration of a Digital ID framework. While the idea may offer administrative benefits, it presents a significant risk of mission creep where a limited, voluntary system quietly evolves into a tool of surveillance, control, or exclusion.
This risk is not theoretical. Around the world, digital identity infrastructure has been expanded beyond its original remit, often without meaningful parliamentary scrutiny, and used to monitor individuals, restrict access to services, and undermine fundamental rights.
To prevent that here in the UK, strong and permanent legal protections must be established from the outset. Without them, any assurances given now can be quietly rolled back by future governments.
I therefore urge you to:
Vote against any Digital ID legislation that does not include absolute, irreversible safeguards;
Support or table amendments that ensure:
The Digital ID system remains strictly voluntary, and individuals face no penalty, exclusion, or disadvantage for opting out;
It is legally prohibited from being linked to surveillance, behavioural tracking, or reputational scoring of any kind;
Access to essential services (NHS, education, housing, banking, etc.) can never be made conditional on possession of a Digital ID;
The system is decentralised, transparent, and subject to independent audit;
These safeguards are made non-repealable, protected by legal mechanisms that prevent future governments from reversing them without full democratic process and direct public consent.
Given the stakes, I urge you to treat this not just as a matter of policy, but as a constitutional issue. Once established, infrastructure of this kind cannot easily be undone, which is why it must be designed from day one with enduring protections for civil liberty.
I would appreciate a response outlining your stance on this issue and whether you will support permanent, irreversible safeguards should such legislation come before Parliament.
Yours sincerely,
