For the first time, the original Pakistani cypher — cable I-0678, the document that triggered the removal of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan — released in full by Drop Site.
The classified document, known as a cypher, shows that State Department diplomats had threatened in 2022 that Pakistan would suffer greatly if Khan remained in office, but that “all would be forgiven” if he were removed in a no-confidence vote.
The Biden administration was infuriated over Khan’s refusal to grant rights for U.S. drone bases in Pakistan, as well as his neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine war.

"You emboldened Zionist propaganda, and you'll keep doing it as long as it lines your f*cking pockets."
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria was interrupted and heckled during a press conference on Monday, just hours following a shooting at a local mosque that left three people dead.
Three victims were killed at the Islamic Center of San Diego earlier in the day, and the two suspected teenage gunmen died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
As Gloria prepared to deliver a public statement, a woman in the audience shouted at him, stating the attack was a “direct result” of his leadership. Gloria is a staunch supporter of Israel and has been actively involved with pro-Israel advocacy groups, frequently referring to himself as a Zionist.
In its first unification white paper, the Lee Jae Myung administration defines North and South Korea as two separate states and explicitly commits to pursuing a policy of peaceful coexistence rather than one of hostility.

This year’s 오월미술제 is being held under the theme "When Bodies Appear." For the first time, it addresses the need to foreground women's experiences of 5.18. 김화순, whose <오월,그날> (2020) captures women's integral contributions to the uprising, is among the participants.
The villagers, who had been warned that their village might be attacked, left their homes. But with American tanks blocking the roads, they fled to the cave, where they were slaughtered by US bombers engaged in a scorched-earth campaign.

107 Years Ago Today: On March 1, 1919, thirty-three prominent Korean religious and cultural leaders gathered at Taehwagwan restaurant in Seoul and publicly read the Korean Declaration of Independence. The document rejected Japanese colonial rule, which had been imposed since the annexation of Korea in 1910, and called for peaceful liberation and national self-determination. The proclamation was inspired in part by US President Woodrow Wilson’s Fourteen Points and the principle of national self-determination, as well as rumors surrounding the death of former Emperor Gojong.
Immediately following the reading, large crowds gathered at Tapgol Park in Seoul, waving the Taegeukgi flag and shouting “Mansei!” (Long live Korean independence!). Demonstrations spread rapidly across the country, involving over a million participants—students, farmers, merchants, Christians, Buddhists, and others—in more than 1,500 separate rallies over the following months. Most protests remained nonviolent, consisting of public readings of the declaration, petitions, and peaceful marches.
Japanese colonial authorities responded with severe repression. Police and military forces were deployed nationwide, using firearms, bayonets, and mass arrests to suppress the movement. Korean sources report approximately 7,500 deaths, 16,000 wounded, and 46,000 arrests, while Japanese official figures were significantly lower. Notable atrocities included the burning of villages and the Jeam-ri massacre, where villagers were locked in a church and burned alive.
Although the March First Movement was largely crushed by the end of 1919, it had lasting consequences. It damaged Japan’s international reputation, prompted a shift from overt military rule to the more conciliatory “cultural rule” policy, and led to the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government in exile in Shanghai. #Japan #Korea #Independence
